Well I use GarageBand to record some of my music but I believe it only works for Macs

What all have you tried? Audacity seems to do a fairly good job for recording. Nothing overly fancy, but it will definitely get the job done.

Also, what setup are you using? Do you just have a microphone hooked up to your computer, or are you doing something else?

i'll check that Audacity out...i got a mic in my comp....i gotta see how it goes....i left my headset in my apartment, so i won't be back there until Sunday.....but my comp has a built in mic....so i'm just trying to find any software that will work right now.

audacity is looking good. working on getting a beat now.....some of my lyrics are rough (what i get for writing the thing in like 20 mins)...i'll try to make it work though


yeah, postponed until at least Sunday....mic here isn't working out....too much outside noise.

May sound silly but if it's possible, get in a closet when you record... It'd be easiest if you just had a mic and went in a closet (it takes away alot of the outside noise) but since it's one that's built in to your computer I dunno what your set up is to be able to take it in the closet (whether it's a laptop or desktop)....

a bathroom is also good. a buddy of mine used it to record some guitar work a while ago, and it turned out better than just recording in his living room.
