We've started drafting an article standards page along with some rules that we feel need to be in place to maintain the quality and integrity of a ScoreHero wiki. Seeing how this is a wiki, we've decided to let you, the community, decide article standards and propose rules that should be followed to ensure high quality of our wiki. Here's what I've already got started, I'm going to limit editing the page to Upgraded users for now but allow comments for all. Once a standard is agreed upon, we can start proliferating it to the other articles. Let's make ScoreHero Wiki awesome!

Either leave comments and suggestions here or on the wiki page linked above and below.

Simply a cosmetic suggestion:

When you create a new page, put in **bold** the first time you mention the subject in the article. Here is an example of this.

^ I agree. I'll start doing that from now on.

Although it can't necessarily be a rule, I would really like to encourage people to include Wikilinks in their edits. If you're listing a bunch of songs, I know it's tedious but it looks much nicer and flows much better if every song is a link to its respective page. For those that don't know how to do this, here is an example:

Instead of just typing Bark at the Moon, you would type [[Song_GH1_BarkAtTheMoon Bark at the Moon]] Whatever comes before the space in the double brackets is the wikilink. Regular urls work also, but a little symbol shows up next to the link, so if you're linking to something on the wiki it's better to just use the wikilink. And if you didn't already know or figure it out, the wikilink is just the title of the page you're linking to.
Another important note is that for page titles with just one word, like idunnolol for instance, you can easily make them wikilinks by wrapping them with [[]], as in [[idunnolol]].

Anyway, it would be nice if people started using these as much as possible so that the wiki could flow well and people won't have to go through and eventually add links to everything.

Good ideas, I've added those into the rules and standards article. If anyone wants to try their hand at better organizing it or you think you've got a good idea for another section of a wiki article, feel free to edit it in. Edit in whatever you think will be helpful, we can always roll back on the history to undo edits if needed, so don't be afraid that you'll mess something up, it can be fixed.

Once you make an edit, mention it in here for discussion.

I thought that a "Do's and Don't's" list would be more appropriate than a "Rules" list. Anyone else agree?

I agree. With something as open and such as a Wiki, I think rules are a bit too "final". Guidelines would work better in my opinion.

I've been thinking, maybe it'll be possible for me to write up a page that can do this automatically to a block of text. So if you take a block of text that has a bunch of song names in it, and submit it to the page, it gives it back to you with nothing changed except song links added.

That'd probably save a ton of time. Someone yell at me in IRC if I haven't done this in the next couple days.

That would be perfect. /me points to his suggestion in another thread. This will definitely save a ton of time and effort, very awesome that you're going to do it Deimos. One more suggestion for this tool:
If at all possible, perhaps there could be an automatically updating database that contains the wikilinks for every page on the site, and then the submission could be linked completely. I don't know how easy something like this would be, but if it would be worth the time I'd love to see that as well. This is certainly a great start though, thanks a lot Deimos.

Well, it's somewhat in the interest of self-preservation. Perhaps you've seen this page: http://wiki.scorehero.com/TourChallengesSetlists

Yeah, I'm really happy with and excited about your plan, just thought I'd throw another suggestion out there in case it was possible. I almost considered adding wikilinks to that page myself until I realized each song was repeated only a few times

I'm attempting to make a table of contents (like most wikis I've seen do) for the 360 Achievements page, and I'm personally wondering how I'd go about that. And I'm wondering whether or not to make that a standard for pages with multiple sections.

To make a table of contents, you need to use HTML and create anchor tags.

First, you add an anchor tags with the name attribute. You put these at the spots that you want to jump to. Since this is HTML on the wiki, you must surround it with two sets of double-quotes:

Code:
""<a name="LinkName"></a>""

Then in your table of contents, you link to those sections like this:

Code:
""<a href="http://wiki.scorehero.com/PageName#LinkName">Link Text Goes Here</a>""

It's a little cluttered, but you can have a look at the Cheat Codes page for an example.
