i literally took my explorer apart 5 mins ago for the same reason. only mine completely died on the downstrum. it seems that the paper thin metal switch has broken off. mine was acting weird as well, missing strums for a song or two then just didn't work. it boggles my mind why they would use such a terrible concept for a switch that is going to be pressed 1000's of times. you may or may not have this problem, but ive heard that explorers have this happen to them often. now im pissed cuz i just finished a custom for FoF |

im attempting a fix, however im not entirely sure if the switch was only the two metal contacting each other, or if there was some kind of charge that needed to be carried through the contacting switch. if its just the two metals contacting each other i think it should work. i guess ill find out soon enough... |

i have a 95065, but they are all relatively the same
anyways i fixed the explorer strum switch. the problem was that part of the one contact had broken off like i first said. there are two contacts in the switch. one which is just a rectangle panel. and the other is a square with the middle cut out, and the part that actually connects the circuit hangs by an extremely thin piece of metal from the outer square to the inside piece.(overcomplicated design for a simple switch huh?) It was the thin piece of metal from the outside box that broke off. After the krazy glue failed (i have no idea why i thought that would complete the circuit) i took out the soldering iron and with some surgical techniques managed to get the little piece back on. after that, I strategically placed tape to get a tight fit on the white piece that pushed the two contacts together and finally i got my explorer back. Anyways, just giving you or anyone else the heads up if this happens. it IS fixable, just a huge pain in the ass because of the piece being so small |

haha that happened to my WII Les Paul. The whammy bar stopped working and as soon as i opened it and put it back together, it started working again and i didn't even mess with the insides _________________
