Yay one more achievement to go!
Currently level 30 and found out something cool;
When you get to level 30 you instantly get unlimited foam gun for every save once you have picked it up and i'm gathering 40 and 50 will be grenades and Rockets respectivally. _________________

I'm really glad to see there are finally Arcade titles that are truly worthy of 1200 points. This is game is phenomenal... and it's kicking my ass on Hardcore mode
My only major gripe is trying to aim at people in the background. I guess this isn't a real problem on the easier modes, but with the aiming being so touchy, if you're not quick/clever enough, you get absolutely slaughtered on higher difficulties. _________________

It definitely takes some getting used to, but I'm not really having any trouble aiming in the background anymore. I started off on Hardcore (Devil May Cry 3 weened me off of starting on the hardest posted difficulty real quick) and am regretful that I didn't go ahead and start it on Insane. On the plus side, I already know that I'll play through the game a few more times at least (love those Master's achievements) so it isn't really a big deal that I didn't start on Insane.
While playing, I've been trying to gauge how possible the game would be without certain items (scuba mask namely), kind of a bummer to see that one achievement list the bare required items for you, I was looking forward to figuring it out myself. I am happy to see that it is possible without the scuba mask though, I was figuring it would be.
Has trying to browse the full leaderboards froze the game for anyone else or am I just lucky? I enjoy seeing various pop ups during play that tell me how many more melee or head-shots I have than some of my friends, wanted to see how well the top people are doing but I can't view them. _________________

Nah, I've been having the same issue in regards to the leaderboards. I had a pretty similar reaction in regards to the difficulty, too- I started out on Normal (just because I figure that it's the way developers want new players to experience the game) and died a grand total of once on my way to finishing the game. _________________

I beat it last night, managed to skip a ton of items (not on purpose) including the hook shot. Now I need to beat it and actually get 100%. I played around in the proving grounds for awhile, I can see myself spending a lot of time in there. I played the last one, The Big One, just to see how hard it gets and it took me about 27 minutes to figure out how to beat it, mainly because I couldn't figure out how to consistently wall transfer while speed dashing. Once I figured that out, I was able to shave my time down to two and a half minutes, securing a 10th place overall score. I'll get 1st place on that one tonight I think, hopefully the leaderboards update for me. _________________

Ha, yeah, that last proving grounds mission was pretty badass. I actually think my time first completion time was twenty-eight minutes. Indeed, wall-jumping in hyperspeed takes near precision with the angle of your jump.
Well, time to go for the Minimalist achievement. I must reitierate: This game is incredible. _________________

I finally bought the game after trying the trial and it is one of the best Arcade games out there. It is a must have for any side scroller fans. It really reminds me of Metroid, but the graphics look great. My only complaint so far also has to be about aiming in the background. There are some very long stretches without a saveroom (like 10-15 minutes), that seem too long in comparison to some points where you get to a saveroom every 5 minutes. _________________

I just got Insurgent and minimalist last night... on Insane mode. Took me just over 2 hours due to the countless times I died but now that I know where to go and how to handle I could probably do it in under a half hour. There were a couple spots where I thought it would be impossible, like the spot where the whole are self destructs, only barely got through that eventually. _________________

On Insane? Holy crap, I fear for my life doing Minimalist on normal. As awesome and fun as the game is, I think I just kind of suck at it compared to most people. On my first run of the game on normal (getting a random amount of items, I think I ended near 60%), I died a fair amount of times. I think I'm going to go for Completionist on Insane now, and I know it's going to be treacherous. _________________

I did Insurgent on Casual, but Insane? fuck Carrot, you're a madman.
I was leveling up to 50 on an insane run before I attempted a Jason Bailey run and realized I was missing a grenade pack... even tho on my map i have I marked getting all of them.
I'm fucked >_> _________________

There are quite a few little issues that really add up to hurting this game overall. I still really enjoy playing it and it is really fun, but damn it if there aren't a lot of little niggles that piss me off. Items hidden in save rooms being one of them. I think there are two or three of them, the designers should have either come up with a way to display those on the map or just avoided placing items in save rooms altogether. No manual control of aiming in the background is another annoyance, it doesn't really affect you during normal runs but it can really fuck up a speed run.
I don't agree with how the game holds your hand so much either, it really detracts from the metroidvania experience when you have a freaking GPS . I could probably complain about this game all day, yet I still play it... a lot like Gears of War 2 actually.
I got nearly under 19 minutes completion time, ranked in the 30's overall I think. _________________

Easily my favorite arcade game. Well worth the 1200 points.
I might even be able to justify paying $60 for this one |
