I'd just like to fully and 100% agree with hailz. If you disapprove with Activision's business methods, that's fine. Keep it out of this thread though, because you're only sounding like all these guys had it coming for their job. If Harmonix started laying off more people because they aren't making enough money, somebody going over saying "Well maybe they shouldn't have released so much DLC lolololololol" would be taken care of right away, and doing that over on the GH side is essentially the same thing.

So I'm not going to tempban the people responsible for bringing this bad vibe into the thread like I had originally thought I was going to do, but let this be an official staff warning. Keep this thread really, REALLY respectful.

Good luck everyone, especially all the friends I made at Neversoft and RedOctane (you know who you are), don't let the dream die. I was in this boat most of last year, it certainly sucks, but keep a positive attitude and things will work out for the best in the end.

Neversoft didn't deserve this. Time and time again they have shown care about their games and over the last year each game was seemingly getting better and better. They aren't perfect, but what developer is? I have no doubt that the fine people laid off at Neversoft will have no problem finding a job at other development studios.

As for GH6 though.... Go out with a bang. Show the assholes at the heads of Activision what they will be missing when you guys leave.

First off, my sincerest condolences to all of the affected people at Neversoft and their families. Getting laid off is a terrible thing, and in this economy it is even worse than it was. Thanks to all of the ScoreHero Neversoft people for hanging out with us this whole time, it has been great sharing a forum with you and I hope it will remain that way after this.

However, it's not Activision/Neversoft's fault for this... Activision really didn't have a choice. Either they suffer huge losses, or they cut their own costs. No sane company would willingly take losses, so this happens. Either you change to reflect the economy, or the economy wrecks your establishment, and the former is exactly what happened here.

Of course, that absolutely doesn't change how sad this is for the Neversoft employees and their families. Activision's scrapping of Guitar Hero and Harmonix's lack of a Rock Band 2 follow up could signal the beginning of the end of the full band music games.

This is a song for the ladies
But fellas listen closely
You don't always have to fuck her hard
In fact sometimes that's not right to do
Sometimes you've got to make some love
And fucking give her some smoochies too
Sometimes ya got to squeeze
Sometimes you've got to say please
Sometime you've got to say hey
I'm gonna Fuck you softly
I'm gonna screw you gently
I'm gonna hump you sweetly
I'm gonna ball you discreetly
And then you say hey I bought you flowers
And then you say wait a minute sally
I think I got somethin in my teeth
Could you get it out for me
That's fucking teamwork
Whats your favorite position?
That's cool with me
Its not my favorite
But I'll do it for you
Whats your favorite dish?
I'm not gonna cook it
But ill order it from Zanzibar
And then I'm gonna love you completely
And then I'll fucking fuck you discreetly
And then I'll fucking bone you completely
But then I'm gonna fuck you hard
Hard

I usually stick to the RB side of Scorehero, but I still play GH to this day.

It really really sucks that Activision is doing this to Neversoft.

I mean I seriously do NOT understand this at all.

Neversoft gave us Tony Hawk, the GOOD Spider Man games, Gun(one of the best of the early 'next gen' games), and they launched GH into the stratosphere.

I understand sales are down, times are tough, but what I don't understand is if Activision is going to keep going with the GH series WHY THE FUCK did they not let Neversoft continue it?

I mean yes VV has done some ports to the other systems, but why take out your number one studio if you're going to continue the game?

Why take them out at all? This company has a solid track record as a proven and valuable game studio. If they wanted them off GH why not put them on another project?

I...I don't see the logic in this entire Neversoft situation and how it was handled.

Hopefully you guys and gals at NS land on your feet and are back supplying us gamers with the awesome fruit of your creative loins.

That came out way dirtier than I was meaning.

Seriously though, good luck to everybody, and I wish you all the best.

It sucks that this has happened to companies as awesome as Neversoft and Harmonix but its almost inevitable in this kind of economy that there will be people who get hit. But ya sorry if anyone we know was effected by it

I heard about this at rockband.com, and that sucks a lot. I'm sorry for all who got laid off.

Unless VV can actually keep the series alive/make it better, I think GH may finally be dead .

This guy pretty much sums up what happened:

I **** KNEW this was going to happen.

They did the same thing with Tony Hawk.

They got popular, they milk it until it bleeds, they hand it off to a smaller developer, then they leave it to die.

Well done activision.

I was hoping it wouldn't bee too late, and there's no more RO, either? VV would have to pull off something miraculous for the GH series to survive.

My heart goes out to all of those affected by the recent rounds of layoffs. I hope that you guys can take some measure of solace knowing that we all really appreciated the effort and love you gave that is clearly evident in the games you helped give to the world. It is truly a shame to see how you were treated, especially after producing great games that made Activision so much money. Best of luck to all of you.

I think this quote from last September is sadly appropriate today:

Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard, Inc. - President and CEO wrote:
...I think that if you look at how much volatility there is in the economy and, dependent upon your view about macroeconomic picture and I think we have a real culture of thrift. And I think the goal that I had...was to take all the fun out of making video games."

"I think we definitely have been able to instill the culture, the skepticism and pessimism and fear that you should have in an economy like we are in today. And so, while generally people talk about the recession, we are pretty good at keeping people focused on the deep depression."

source

Mission accomplished, asshole.

The periods of elipses in the quote mean that something was removed, which leads me to believe that it is out of context.
