This really reminds me of a Gavin Harrison quote:

"I've never understood those drummers who go 'oh look as I play in 9/8, or 11/16!' without any semblance of trying to make it have a groove or flow to it. More often than not it comes off as boring technical wankery and showboating rather than entertaining and interesting percussion work."

In short, on a technical level it's quite good. But in terms of melodic percussion it sounds pretty boring. The man obviously has the chops to do some interesting and engaging drum lines, but these aren't any to me at least.

It sounds awful, which is half of what I found so fun about watching it. It's so far beyond the breaking point of melodic/techwank that it's silly, yet at the same time the amount of skill required to accomplish it is absolutely astounding.

AND he talks over it. Ridiculous.
