Noise rock is a bit of a love/hate thing. I don't know a huge amount of people who like it (understandably so, it is rather brazen) but those who like it tend to love it. Personally, I've been a huge fan of noise rock ever since I first heard Scratch Acid and Big Black on a compilation album (no idea what it was called) when I was 13/14. A few days ago I went to see Melt Banana play in Southampton and was super excited to see them working the merch booth themselves! After buying a T-Shirt and cool pixel-art badge, I asked them for a picture and to sign a couple of my records. Now we've got Dream Genie in RB4 which is a super cool song, even though I suck at it. I'd never heard of Lightning Bolt before, but am totally digging them now! We've also had some Sonic Youth in GH and RB. They aren't exactly noise rock, I realise, but there not a million miles away.

I've mentioned a few of my favourites, what do you guys listen too? Or do you all just flat-out hate noise rock? :P

"1970" by The Stooges, "Sweet Willy Rollbar" by Melvins and "Little Girl" by Death From Above 1979 are the only noise rock songs i've ever listened to (outside of GH3 & GH:WT). And yeah, i do enjoy them very much.

Edit: I think "Good Love" by Kram is noise rock as well.

I've really enjoyed Lightning Bolt (and I heard of them before the RB4 setlist was announced), and I'm guessing shoegaze counts? If so, I like stuff like Lush and Slowdive.

I saw Lush a few months ago in London. Generes are very subjective things, so I guess they count. Isn't Anything by MBV is considered by many to be the first shoegaze album, and its got some noise rock elements to it on songs like "Lose My Breath".

It's like rock but loud.
