Custom StepMania Cabinet (BUILDING??)

Lacking anything better to do, I want to build a StepMania Cabinet. It would be slimmer than the arcades as it will house a 32" LCD tv not a tube.

Gonna run stepmania off my laptop (hook it up when necessary), pump sound to 2.1 speakers anchored on the cabinet and then somehow affix my afterburner such that the whole thing is pretty solid.

anyone run across a homebrew mod of something like this? I have a general idea of what i want but seeing some already done would be nice

I've seen pictures on a forum I used to frequent (DDRManiaX) but it's unfortunately died. I'm sure you can find someone who has done this on DDRFreak...

I've made my own DDR pad in the past, but never dealt with the rest.

To be honest I don't think it'll be that hard, besides getting the cabinet and fixing a TV screen to it. It might even be better if your pads aren't fixed to the cabinet, so you can put them away when you need more space.

yes that's the idea, build it from scratch.

i was thinking of the detachable pad idea so i can just store it vertically on the front of the cabinet but i'm concerned about the cabinet itself tipping over since it'll be top heavy...

lcd monitor may not be the best option b/c of all that lag and timing window calibration you may need to do. if you want to try this,i'd say stick with the old school CRT monitor, but that's just me.

it plays fine on a normal PC LCD, i would think if i hooked up and LCDTV with VGA input it would be no different.

I considered a tube but then i'd need a graphics card with tv-out and i didnt want to buy a new pc for this (i just have 2 laptops)
