~11 hours until Direct2Drive releases their activation keys.

I've already heard that there's lots of PC players getting very choppy framerates across both brands of Graphics Cards... So much for the PC love >_>

Well apparently there will be lobbies soon as the guys at TTG are working like crazy to get a new rebooter running on the new dashboard so they can run lobbies online. I don't know how they are going to get mods running, but knowing how hackers are, they will never stop until they achieve their goal. Lol at JD_2020 saying that the game will be "unhackable".

Ugh, they completely fucked up sniping to the point where it's unplayable. I try not to quickscope unless I'm in private lobby with friends, but I do run around, scope in for like 1.5 seconds, and then take my shot. According to the new patch to "fix quickscoping," you have to scope in for 2-3 seconds before your shot will even be remotely accurate. Thanks Treyarch ><

Still gonna have a ton of fun playing this game, just can't believe they could fuck up sniping so badly.

I am very curious to see just how things work, but I think(hope) you are exaggerating. From the videos I've seen, it simply randomizes the scope in center point and then begins the normal idle sway, meaning you could hold breath and take a shot within about a second of the scope showing up on screen. I guess we'll find out tonight :p

New patch came out today that made it the equivalent of no-scoping for about 2-3 seconds after you scope in, in addition to the changes you already mentioned. Some PS3 OpTic guy had a video of it (Bullivard or something idk) and it was really really bad.

Insant one-shot death from pretty much any distance? It was OP. Yes it took skill, but someone with skill shouldn't be able to rain death like this.

Considering Treyarch are personally welding the ban hammer as well as Microsoft for this, I'll be inclined to say that there will be a spike of people purchasing new arcade consoles and a live subscription. :P

So... a second patch? Holy cripes, Treyarch... bad move. Everything else was handled oh so well too :/ Well, maybe this will just change the way CoD is played, these things do happen over time. I didn't snipe often so I'm not personally bothered, but that will change a lot of stuff man.

I'd have no problem with it if I could still scope in and have my kill in under 2 seconds, but now most of the time the person I'm aiming at will either be out of sight or be shooting at me before I get a chance to line up a shot and shoot. Assault Rifles kill in 3-5 bullets from the same distance a Sniper kills in one, only now the people with Assault Rifles can line up and kills the snipers before they have a chance to take the shot. The way Treyarch wants sniping mechanics to work is how it would work if the maps were battlefield sized, but they're not. The maps in Call of Duty simply aren't big enough to host realistic sniping mechanics.

oh well, FAMAS and AK-74 here I come

Snipers are supposed to be a precise surprise attacker from a distance, the role of close-midrange quick killing guns should be left to assault rifles and some SMGs.

Quickscoping is really a game designer's nightmare because having a gun that drops anybody at any range in less than a second is pretty detrimental to the mechanics of any other weapon.

I agree with you that snipers are supposed to be surprise attacks from a distance. The practicality of that in a game with maps the size of the maps in Call of Duty is just non-existent. Surprise attacks from a distance will only be reasonably possible on the largest of maps, and even then within 2 weeks all the good spots for sniping vantage points will be well known, and those spots will be routinely checked. Basically, I agree with you in principle on sniping, it just cannot justly be applied and work well in Call of Duty.

Yeah it seems like they are trying to make snipers how they are in reality which is a guy sitting extremely far away in a hidden place and trying not to be noticed. It is just not going to happen in a game like this. I think the only way sniping could ever be like that is if there was a new map every time a match was played, but that is obviously not possible with the games we have today.

Anywhere a sniper finds to hide, there will be other people who find that spot and will check there, so sniping will never be as it is in real life. I don' really see why they are making these updates if that is what they are trying to achieve.

You can also argue that there are many areas in Call of Duty that are too big and spacious to warrant the use of shotguns.

Just like Shotguns, Snipers are (well, should be) situational weapons, where they are on opposite ends of the scale in terms of effective range. Assault Rifles and SMGs should sit in the middle ground between them, hence why they are used the most, as they're easily adaptable.
