I have had frequency for a while, and Amplitude just came in the mail today. I love both of these games, great fun.
And even better when I injure my arm I can still play these, not always true for guitar hero.
Would anyone be interested in maybe a mini amplitude high score type thing? Get a bit of competition going. _________________

I've been playing them for years now as well, I'd be willing to say I'm better at Amplitude than I am at any other game. I've got 4 bars on nearly every tune, and a few completely rediculous scores (over 7k on Super Sprode comes to mind).
A looooong while ago, I started a high score chart on Freq.com (I'm The Dark DJ), and it was carried on by a few other fans. The Frequency chart is the only one that is still up (I think), at http://freq.com/bb/showthread.php?t=6 . These two games were like, my favourite ever. Super sad that Amplitude online is no more... I SO wish HMX would make a new Freq/Amp game! ...but they probably won't, especially with the crazy success of Guitar Hero.
Man, when I heard about the crazy success of GH and that it was done by Harmonix, I was really happy for them. They're great people. ...but anyway, yeah. lol.
Long story short, if you haven't played Frequency or Amplitude yet, pick them up, they're some of the best games of the last decade. |

I bought Amplitude for $10 at my local Gamestop, after I heard it was developed by the GH guys. Rock Show, M-80, Dope Nose, all great songs. I regret not trying to play that game with my SG controller before I sold it (regrettably). _________________

Frequency is cake compared to Amplitude difficulty wise
When I get my Amp back I'd love to get some 4 player going _________________

I would have to agree that if amplitude and frequency hadn't of come out I may of been doubtful to get the GH series.
both are great games especially when you can make your own tracks and upload/download them.
I might break those games out tonight! |

End of Your World was more difficult than Spaztik, partly due to the change in hit boxes and better BPM sync in Amplitude. But still, I wouldn't call it a walk in the park. _________________

Spaztik destroyed me, and I even had trouble with I Am Hated.
I ran through Frequency pretty easily in comparison, even End of Your World.
I guess it's just a matter of what comes easier to you.
Either way, I finally beat Spaztik yesterday so... I'm happy _________________

Hardest passage in the series is in End of Your World, but overall, Amp is far harder than Freq. _________________

What exactly IS amplitude? I've heard a lot of praise for the game... but haven't really heard a description of it. I understand it is a rhythm game but what kind of controller does it use and what is the basic concept?
Maybe i'll pick it up if I see it for cheap somewhere, but probably not if I have to buy a special controller for it as well. _________________

Kinda bad quality, but you get the idea.
Controls are
L1=Left most button
R1=Middle button
R2=Right most button.
Left and right d-pad switches tracks and x uses any power-ups. It's that simple. Just really hard.
Just to give you an idea of what's going on :p _________________

Thanks for the link, that looks cool as hell. Man I really missed the boat on rhythm games... I didn't start playing DDR until way late, and GH is the first one that I have really played and got somewhat good at (i'm still not very good at DDR, anything more than 5 steps and my old body can't move that fast.. lol)
"Insane" appears to be a good name for that difficulty, but I think I could have a lot of fun on an easier difficulty.. i'll definitely pick that up if I can find it somewhere cheap _________________

I've loved both Freq and Amp since inception. I got Frequency when it first came out and played it like mad for months. I actually hit the End Of Your World superhard track I think twice? But this was when I was like 13, bet I'd be better at it now.
Amplitude was good, but the music wasn't so great.
I have a Gamebridge that I just got (meaning I make videos of everything still) and still have both games... If you guys who haven't seen it want some videos made just ask, I certainly can't motivate myself to do it. |
