Lists like this are stupid; I don't care. |
Ehh...while lists like these really are pretty stupid, they're fun to look at and establish your own opinions on. But yes; the idea of ranking all games ever made and ranking them is a dumb idea if you take it seriously. _________________

Star Control 2 should have made top 5, as should Half-Life 1
Not a terrible list though - I definitely think Pong deserved a place on there though - talk about influential!!! |

Starcraft FTW! I thought it should have been top 5 though.
Edit:
suspectfenster wrote: | I agree with the list as it nears the top, but some of the bottom 50 I think are way off. I'm very happy SC made it to number 7 though...I think sometimes that game is under-appreciated when it comes to ALL games (though certainly not underrated in the RTS genre). |
fenster, you win.

CS is on there...that game consumed my freshmen year of high school like no other. I cant even say how many hours I played that year. (Was playing 5+ hours everyday).
Pokemon Red/Blue - Loved playing it when I was in elementary school, probably played them more than any of my console games.
Mario/Waverace 64 - Brings back memories.
Zelda: OoT - <3 still have it on N64 _________________

I don't agree with the ordering of the list, at all....
Of course Mario should be first becuase of it's influence and precident for it's time, but that means GTAIII (didn't like the game, but appreciate it's influence on gaming), Prince of Persia (the original), any game built on the SCUMM engine (I only saw Maniac Mansion, but it wasn't even the original), and more should have been higher, or at least, on the list. Why games like "Monkey Island" and "Myst" didn't make it on the list baffles me. And why the hell is "The Sands of Time" above the original "Prince of Persia?!" That doesn't make any sense.....
And "Star Craft" does not belong in the top ten. Good game, but I'd rather see the original "War Craft" than that game up there....
Oh well....it's gotta be a huge pain in the ass to make a list like that... _________________

The 2003 list was much better. They did a reader's choice list a while ago that was a total abomination. The third Splinter Cell game got 3rd place after only being out for 3 weeks (whoa I just noticed how weird that is, ever hear how everything comes in 3's?). _________________
