Is anyone else getting an error when they try and create a new account in Audiosurf? _________________

I had the same problem at first. First off, I'm assuming you played the beta and used the "dummy server" to continue playing after it had officially stopped. As a result, it blocked data transfer between your computer and the official audiosurf website (try going to the official website... doesn't load, right?). So in order to fix it you'll have to edit your "hosts" file.
First you gotta find it.
It's generally located in C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/DRIVERS/ETC
Open the file named "hosts" with some text editor (I used wordpad personally).
Now, you can do one of two things:
1. delete all lines that are not "127.0.0.1 localhost" or don't have a # in front of it,
or
2. put a # in front of anything that is not "127.0.0.1 localhost"
I recommend the latter, just in case there is something in there you need. That way you can easily fix it.
Save your changes and quit. Restart Steam if you have it open already and you should now be able to access the Audiosurf servers. _________________

looks like I know what I am buying and downloading when I get home from work today.
I hope I can jack the graphics all the way up when I get my 8800GTX. _________________

I personally use Ninja Mono with Ironmode on. I've got a couple scores in the top 3 with it.
It's all about the bonuses, in particular the clean finish and stealth bonuses (+25% and +30% respectively). Another thing is, like guitar hero, you wanna rack up a long streak. Each colored brick you get adds to your score and they become worth more each time (up to 200 points each I believe) if you manage to not hit a single gray brick throughout. Soon as you hit that gray brick it starts over again at 1 point each.
On top of that, you'll never get a high score with only a couple plays of a single song, let alone one. You're gonna have to do it quite a few times before you can anticipate tempo changes and brick positions.
In the end, I believe that a flawless run in a couple of the other modes (eraser, pusher) will amount to a higher score than a flawless run in mono, it's just a lot more difficult to rack up high scores in those other modes. It's just the way it is. _________________

Got this game installed yesterday and was instantly hooked. I usually don't use any characters besides the Mono ones. Heh, Ninja Mono is just a bit too crazy for me right now so I stick with Mono Pro and finally at least getting some Gold Medals. TtFaF is mad fun on Mono Pro!
Question: On Ninja Mono, do the gray blocks ALWAYS stay on your board if you hit them? They were the main reason I did so horrible on Ninja Mono my first few attempts, I couldn't get them to go away... _________________

Nah. To remove all grey blocks, hit the spacebar. You'll have to wait for it to recharge until you can use it again, mind you. _________________

God, I have to get this game. I've seen several videos of it on Youtube, and am surprised that no-one has done certain songs on Audiosurf, which I'd like to do.
By the way, just to clear this up, do you have to make the chart, or does it automatically generate one to play on? And is there the option of putting in a pre-made chart different to the one created by the game? |

it automatically analyzes and creates every track for you, no matter what audio file you use. The system it uses makes it so, no matter which person on whatever computer does it, the chart for one song will always come out the same. It's done this way so the online scoreboards will be fair since everyone will be playing the same chart.
For that reason, I don't think it's possible to create your own custom chart for a song. I highly doubt, even if you could, that you'd wanna waste time making your own when you could be spending that time playing the game with a limitless amount of content anyways. _________________
