I don't know if you guys heard, but Avenged Sevenfold's spectacularly talented drummer, The Rev, was found dead in his home early Monday morning.
It's a tragedy to see such a talented guy brought down in his prime. I don't know much about his personal life, but I do know that people have told me it was very drug-laden. I don't know, as of now, they're calling it natural causes, but at age 28, it's hard to imagine what happened.
RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. _________________

Sucks to see another young celebrity go, especially like this. Sure being a rockstar can be fun, but if you let it take hold of you, it's gonna fuck you up. Some make it out, some don't. A shame really if it was to drugs. RIP.
Though these "natural causes" stuff is hard to hear for someone so young. Brittany Murphy just died last week I believe of similar causes and she was only like 32.
Time to put on a few songs from their one album I like, City of Evil. |

Apparently they were about to record a new album too. I wonder what's going to happen with that now. Or maybe they already finished a few songs? Does anyone know anything about that?
Jeez...always sad to see such a talented musician go. _________________

I heard just about half an hour ago. I loved this drummer, he was a major influence on my drumming. He was an awesome dude and a great drummer. Avenged Sevenfold will not be the same without him.

Considering that the other thread failed, lets try to be respectable for this one. I've always enjoyed both playing and listening to Avenged Sevenfold's music, and I would've loved to have seen how they progressed as musicians. It's like Kieth Moon and The Who except he sang as well (while Kieth was banned). I'm not sure how involved he was in the song writing process, but this is definitely a tragedy. I wonder how he actually died, either from drugs (most likely) or something else (I think they said Firemen found him dead, possible death from carbon monoxide or smoke inhalation?).
I wonder if we rock band players should have a tribute to Rev, playing all their songs tomorrow, maybe we can get some full bands together? _________________

Wow, I really loved his drumming. In my opinion, he was really the only talent in Avenged Sevenfold as I can't stand Synyster's solos. I wonder if they will try and replace him or if A7X are done.
Gonna go listen to Unholy Confessions... _________________

Wow, this was really unexpected...R.I.P., A7X won't be the same without him. He was probably one of my top-ten favorite drummers. _________________

I'm going to have to figure out a way to play some A7X tomorrow, despite my lack of a 360 currently. It seems only fitting that since I can't even come close to replicating his ability on actual drums that I should at least play fake plastic ones to remember him. I remember the first time I heard Beast and the Harlot, how impressed I was by the drum solo...sad to know that the creator of that monster has drummed his last. RIP. _________________

as with most bands, they will probably go on hiatus for a while and then bring in someone new. Whoever it is, I don't see them really replacing the rev, just taking his place behind the drums.
One last 2009 celebrity death and it better be the last.
R.I.P. everyone who has died this year. |

A7X is a guilty pleasure of mine. I get heat from some of my friends for liking this band, but I like what I like. Really a shame he went.
Natural causes at 28 though? My money is on some kind of drug OD. What do you guys think? |

Wow, this came out of nowhere. I'll be playing Almost Easy online tomorrow in the only tribute I can think of. _________________

He wrote A little piece of heaven and contributed much more. He also played piano, backing vocals and in some songs guitar. R.I.P Rev _________________

That's really...shocking.
According to Wikipedia, some initially thought that he fell off of his roof pretending to be Santa Claus. Nah.
But I remember listening to BaTH the first time on my iPod and being like, holy crap, at the fast drumming section.
So we'll all miss him. RIP. |
