I've actually been listening to her album lately, and I love Highly Strung. It would make an awesome GH song.

edit: apparently there's a video and the song features Steve Vai.

Wouldn't a solid gold guitar weight hundreds of pounds and sound really bad?

Wow, this is really quite interesting. It's nice to actually see a woman that has the ability to actually match Steve Vai.

Every little fill she played and the solo sounded like shit, and the rest of the song wasn't bad but nothing special whatsoever. That's what makes it absolutely terrible to me -- I don't care how well she can play, that's trivial.

So you're saying that she may or may not play well. But she's a terrible player. Because it sounds like shit. To you.

<.<

Please clarify because I am confused.

I haven't heard a solo like that in popular music in forever.

If nothing else its bringing more attention to guitar playing and does its part to further turn another demographic on to playing (teenage girls). How is that not special?

Edited to make me sound less like a penis.

I'm pretty sure he's directly criticizing the playing. Which is why he said the rest of the song "wasn't bad".

I could be wrong though.

Me, metal head? Ha, yeah right

I judge guitar players on how well they make music I like. How well they can play (on a "technical" basis) means little or nothing to me, so I think she's terrible. It's really that simple, I'm not hiding anything. If you told me you do like her music then I'd understand why you think she's a great guitar player and wouldn't argue. You really can't argue about good music.

I wouldn't say I "love" her music or anything like that- but I recognize she is bringing something new to the mainstream girl with a guitar scene.

That's all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOBrEUhA3JY I like this song better anyway- even if it's a cover (apparently)

Yeah, been hearing this on the radio lately.

It's pretty safe to call her the best musician 90% of my school has ever heard (Friggin' mainstream pop/rap stations >__>)

Got the album about two weeks ago, and I love it. It has a very Paramore/Lavigne feel to it, but then you get these shreds coming out of nowhere as if Joe Satriani had walked into the wrong studio. "Highly Strung" is right up there with the best of Satriani's/Vai's work IMO.

Yeah, the solo in 'According To You' is mental and really should be in the next GH game or DLC. Pretty awesome isn't she?

Except the beginning of the solo sounds like Beat It, then the part right after is from Sweet Child O' Mine (in a higher octave) and then the rest sounds like Van Halen.

I'm not saying I don't like it, I'm saying it's not original so
