Sorry seen it coming, anytime anything gets super popular this quick people jump on bandwagons. I remember going out to the bar and hearing people asking to hear dubstep... it's gonna eventually kill itself off.

That's certainly one theory. My theory is that it will continue to grow on itself and somewhere between now and 2 years from now we will see subgenres like progressive dubstep, psychedelic dubstep, hard dubstep and a few others. It's not the first electronic genre to get its soul stolen by the mainstream and it won't be the last.

To restore the karmic dubstep balance after that song, here is some stuff that I've been playing lately:

Bassnectar & Datsik - Yes
Excision & Downlink - Heavy Artillery ft. Messinian (FULL)
Datsik - Firepower (Levela Remix)
Bratkilla ft. Maksim - Anal Cunt (click if you like Borgore)
Bratkilla - The Closure
Skrillex ft. Foreign Beggars, Bare Noize - Scatta
Quartus Saul - The Rapist (Cyberoptix Remix)
Reso - Beasts In The Basement

I like the way you think, Tornintwo. Have this. Enjoy it.

Also, I wouldn't mind getting some feedback on my crappy drumstep filth stuff.

This mix is essential. It's free to download right now and I suggest each and every one of you do. Even if you have never been to this thread before and have no idea what the hell dubstep/drum and bass is. This mix is going to set the bar for dnb and all related genres for 2011. Ladies, gentlemen, get your fuckin' subwoofers ready.

I thought this thread deserved a bump.

There was a Bassnectar concert in Ashville like last month or something, and I know a bunch of people who went, they said it was amazing.

Some of my favorite dubstep songs;

Blast Off - Bassnectar; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q5aTOVhIkA

Basshead - Bassnectar; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRftXCiqfQ8

Quantum - Crushcrushcrush Remix; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5LidZerROQ

Flux Pavilion - Cracks Remix; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1VLaXoRRdk

Some pretty awesome songs in my opinion, I recommend checking them out!

Don't know if you guys have heard his mixes before but go on youtube and look up DJConceptFuNK He has some great mixes that I love to listen to. I'd also like to add my fav. DJ is now Borgore. If you haven't heard any of his shit my fav's by him are Money, Ice Cream, Nympho, Act Like a Hoe and Foes (original or 16 bit remix) plus he has the greatest music video ever made. (that is if you're a guy) MIA -Illy Girl (Borgore Remix) look it up.

I never really understood the appeal of dubstep.

It's a pretty unique genre. The old stuff is great for just chillin' and shit. The new stuff (colloquially known as 'brostep') is a whole other story. I personally prefer 'brostep' because it's a bit more varied.

I think I might have some mild synesthesia or something, and I can often visualize music in my head. Dubstep produces by far the most vivid visualizations for me. The wub-bass is an all-enveloping frame, while the rest of the music is a moving portrait, portraying anything from a cottage in the woods (don't ask why) to a killer robot apocalypse.

Also, this song.

Oh, and if you have a subwoofer you wanna blow the fuck up, there's no better way.

Oh look, this thread.
I saw Excision, Downlink and Antiserum 11 days ago. Excision was so ridiculous. The bass was so heavy that it shook my entire face. Like I could feel my body vibrating and it actually made my back hurt. Sooooo amazing.

Anywhooo... This is what I'm listening to right now:
Asking Alexandria - A Single Moment Of Sincerity (Bare Remix)
Excision & Datsik - Boom (SkisM Remix)
Benny Benassi - Cinema (Skrillex Remix)
Excision & Datsik - Swagga (Downlink Remix)
Magnetic Man - Mad
Excision & Noiz - Force (Bassnectar & Excision VIP)
Dubba Jonny - Big Bad Wolf
That sums up my recent dubstep. I'm also getting into moombahcore which is absolutely amazing and I suggest all of you look into it and I might post some up later.

Went to see them when they came through Houston. Shit was so cash.

Plan B - Love Goes Down (Doctor P Remix)

The Sonic the Hedgehog spring sample made me VERY happy. lol

Edit: Crap. This was supposed to be an epic 3000th post. Damn you, Dubstep. Oh well. I suppose that track is sufficiently epic.

May I add to this thread?

I'm just getting into dubstep. I don't listen to it a lot but if I find a song that I really like I listen to it A LOT. Anyways, here are two songs that I fucking love.

Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites by Skrillex

Pink Elephants VIP by Daladubz
