Kings and Chandeliers/ Hills Like White Elephants from The Hearts of the Lonely People, by Isles and Glaciers. Good stuff, man. _________________

A lot of the time they're just dumb. But in the case of say... the intro to Speakerboxxx (Big Boi's half of the OutKast double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below) they may be the best song on the album. Just depends. _________________

This, basically. A lot of times I feel intros like this are just filler. There are exceptions, such as of course Screaming for Vengeance, but more often than not, in my opinion of course, these intros should've just been left at the studio. _________________

I don't. Honestly it just doesn't do much for me. The Hellion is cool, but it might as well just be a part of the song. |

For most hip hop albums, the intro helps establish the mood of the album, whether they are their own song or not.
The Genesis/N.Y. State Of Mind by Nas is an example. The album feels incomplete without it. _________________

New megadeth album intro, kickass.
It does sound A LOT like Wolfmother's Joker and the thief though.. _________________

I've listened to that intro like a hundred times. So awesome.
A couple other intro's that are of note to me:
"Intro" - Ludacris, Red Light District
"Southern Fried Intro" - Ludacris, Chicken & Beer
"New Joc City" - Yung Joc, New Joc City
What's with the intro to Linkin Park's Meteora? I've always though it's kinda dumb.
"Dawn Patrol" - Megadeth is pretty cool too. Not an album opener, but an interlude I guess _________________

Showtek - Intro/The F Track
Possibly the best way to start a hardstyle album ever.
Edit: Don't know how the hell I forgot this. _________________

This post is very accurate, intros are a very important part of hip hop and that example is perfect. I could hear it in my head when you said it because it is such a vital part of the album. _________________

I love short intro songs, I feel when done properly they can add a lot to the following song and the album as a whole.
One of my favorites is Soldier Side / B.Y.O.B. - something about it is just so sad.
Also the intros to both Plastic Beach and Demon Days are both some good ones. _________________
