Oh shit, my husband found this thread.
Guys, he has a folder on his computer filled with hundreds of pony pictures. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
The album covers have to be my favorite though.

Don't worry, I'll compensate your husband's odd interest in ponies with my massive talent for not caring about this. _________________

Don't knock it until you watch a couple of episodes.

This.
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG PONIES
I was just about to make an MLP thread!
Guys, if you haven't seen any MLP, I recommend starting with the episodes Winter Wrap Up, Boast Busters, or Applebuck Season. Personally, I don't like the pilot very much, so starting with these might give you a better first impression. |
Meh...I always have people that are interested start from the pilot and go in order. I just remember when I first saw an episode, I watched one of the newer ones and I thought it was retarded because I had no idea what was going on or who anyone was. Then I watched it in order and I began liking the show. _________________

I was just going to shrug this off as some stupid little kids' show until I saw:

The Powerpuff Girls was the single greatest "girly" show I ever saw . I'm going to watch some of MLP later when I have the time. _________________

The colors...so hypnotizing.
I had no idea this was by the same folks responsible for PPG. It seems so obvious now, though.
Now, I don't make a habit of watching kids shows. I, of course, make exception for cartoons from my childhood. Samurai Jack, Rugrats, Dexter's Lab...even with nostalgia goggles, I can tell these are truly good cartoons. I've yet to see any of this My Little Pony show, but if it's as good as you guys say it is, I'm glad kids these days actually have some quality cartoons to watch (along with Adventure Time).
I might check it out some time... |

Never seen an episode, but I am quite intrigued now. I have to watch at least one at some point. _________________

Anyone who writes this off based on the name alone is an ignorant parasprite. It's easily the best cartoon since the Powerpuff Girls or Samurai Jack depending on your preference.
I disagree that the pilot is a bad place to start, and it sincerely hurts my heart to hear this concensus. I loved the pilot, the pilot is what got me into the show. The pilot has Luna.
You can't ignore that kind of greatness.
@ Anyone who can't stand the songs or thinks they're stupid: this is lampshaded by the show itself with the exception of Winter Wrap Up. The moment Pinkie starts singing Twilight is like "She's not seriously going (to sing)..."
The fan community is hands down one of the best I've ever been a part of. The fanfic writers are top-notch, the community doesn't let itself get bogged down by shovelware garbage (coughPowerpuffGirlsFandomcough), and the artwork never ceases being adorable. There's even talks of a Friendship is Magic MMO being made by bronies.
And lastly, there's Lauren Faust. She's the only person who is at least 20% cooler than Rainbow Dash, even Rainbow Dash's bro-wing with Philomena. She is extremely excited with the popularity of the show, rather openly acknowledges and thanks /co/ for their contribution to that success, trolls trolls who try trolling her, responds to fans as much as contractual obligations allow, and is just a plain awesome woman.
This show isn't for little girls. It's for little girls and their parents, yes, even the male parents. There's something in there for everyone, and if you take the time to watch a few episodes, it'll either grow on you like cancer in your bones, or it will overwhelm you like the Symbiote.
Either way: everyone wins. |

I dislike a lot of the Cartoon Network shows (especially Ed, Edd n Eddy... they bug me, but that aside)... Never liked Samurai Jack much and the Powerpuff Girls I really didn't like-- yes, I watched some episodes on some occasions. I know I'm not even giving this show a chance, but it just has so much going against it...
I'm not being childish, I really think it is not my thing. There are only a few shows I'd still enjoy out of nostalgia. I really feel like watching Mad Jack the Pirate right now, actually... _________________

i'm sorry, but no thanks. I can see how everyone else could like this, but no. This is not a teenage boy show. Not my forte at least. The only reason i've ever watched The Hub was for Deltora Quest, because those are my favorite books of all time. I really do like the animation and storyline, and I have all the respect for the creators, but i cannot see myself watching this again.
EDIT: Seeing how this is all so popular, especially with fan made media related towards it, i have now come to the hypothesis the My Little Pony porn will increase tenfold. |

It's cool if it's not your thing or if you don't even want to try watching it. But why post a dick comment in a thread that's not your thing? It's like you were trying to be a troll but it wasn't even funny. Just embarrassing dude...
As for rule 34, I'm sure there's plenty of it, but from what I've gathered, Bronies just like to make funny pics and seem to legitimately enjoy the show. Rather than enjoy it by making fun of it or turning it into something vulgar. I'd like to think this show and bronies will have a sort of unwritten rule for all that... one that says "keep it to yourself." :p There was plenty of PPG rule 34 too, but for the most part there was this untouchable quality to it, like even some of the pretty sick dudes wanted to keep it pure. Not very many people were sick enough to do it (or if they did, they had the decency to make the girls NOT 6 years old ) _________________
