Personally I love both. Maybe it's just because I've been a Disney fan all my life, but seeing Johnny Depp turn a ride in an amusement park into an awesome movie and an awesome sequel...that's just magic.

Granted, not all of Disney's ride-turned-movies worked (remember The Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy? ...Didn't think so.), but by nearly flawless casting, they turned it into a really good movie.

Still don't get the ending to the second one though.

I'll put it in tiny type, since it's a spoiler.

I'm still confused as to how Barbossa was alive after being pwnd by Jack in the first movie. I've heard speculation that it might be because he escaped from World's End (where the third movie takes place and where Jack is at right now) and he knows his way back, but I wasn't sure if it was true.

Yeah, they don't really explain that (Hylian's spoiler) or most things in that movie. It's very easy to presume what happened and that will do just fine for now. But they'll probably cook something up.

On topic, I liked the first one a good deal, but I was disappointed in the second one. It was much cornier, had less of a plot, and had a horrible (almost non-existent, Matrix Reloaded style ending).

I have to agree. It was probably becuase there wasn't NEARLY as much swashbuckling fun in the second one.

Damn you Orlando...anytime a movie focuses on you more than any other actor it gets more boring.
