|
|
Thanks to everyone's help enough cutoffs have been proven to derive the base score for every song.
So by popular demand, I've now added increased ratings as has been previously discussed. To do so I've removed the input field for your rating on the score submission page which will now be derived based on your score.
The added ratings follow the same linear scale that the game uses to assign 3-5 stars. I've simply expanded the scale to also include 6 and 7 stars (and beyond). The exact calculations for the cutoffs are as follows:
Code: | GH 1:
-----------------------------------------------------
2-star cutoff = 0 (lowest attainable rating on SH)
3-star cutoff = 1 * base_score
4-star cutoff = 2 * base_score
5-star cutoff = 3 * base_score
6-star cutoff = 4 * base_score
7-star cutoff = 5 * base_score
8-star cutoff = 6 * base_score
GH2/80s/3:
-----------------------------------------------------
1.5-star cutoff = 0 (lowest attainable rating on SH)
2-star cutoff = 0.4 * base_score
3-star cutoff = 1.2 * base_score
4-star cutoff = 2.0 * base_score
5-star cutoff = 2.8 * base_score
6-star cutoff = 3.6 * base_score
7-star cutoff = 4.4 * base_score
8-star cutoff = 5.2 * base_score
9-star cutoff = 6.0 * base_score
|
If you don't know what "base_score" refers to, it's explained in the "Rating System" section of the Scoring FAQ.
To be consistent with the game's ratings since it only gives up to 5-stars, I've made the images for 6-stars and 7-stars still appear as 5-stars but with modified colors as follows:
6-stars:
7-stars:
For certain songs 7-stars might be impossible to achieve, but 6-stars is always possible.
EDIT: Update for GHII
The ratings shown now reflect the system in both games. The decimal rating that is shown tells you how close you are to whichever rating that you have (or how close you are to the next one), it is not an indicator of average multiplier.
Code: | | | Avg. Mult. | SH Decimal Rating |
| In-game Rating | GH1 | GH2 | GH1 | GH2 |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
| 4-stars | 2.0x | 2.0x | 4.0 | 4.0 |
| 5-stars | 3.0x | 2.8x | 5.0 | 5.0 |
| 6-stars | 4.0x | 3.6x | 6.0 | 6.0 |
| 7-stars | 5.0x | 4.4x | 7.0 | 7.0 |
| 8-stars | 6.0x | 5.2x | 8.0 | 8.0 |
| 9-stars | 7.0x | 6.0x | 9.0 | 9.0 |
|
As you can see, the scale is different for each game since a lower average muliplier is required for higher ratings in GH2 than GH1. However, the displayed decimal ratings are simply that, decimal versions of the rating. So it wouldn't make sense to show 5-stars as 4.8. As a result I've adjusted the scale to correspond to the game's systems while still maintaining the concept of a "decimal rating". _________________

Simply score well enough above the 5 star cutoff. |

It's nice. Is it possible to get a list of base scores, or 6 and 7 star ratings for every song to refer to? Just a suggestion.
And if I calculated right, I'm only 377 points away from a 7 star on Frankenstein Expert. I can shoot for that. _________________

Yes, I'll be adding links for "6-star cutoff" and "7-star cutoff" to the song stats page. Obviously with no ability to submit proofs or anything, but just to show the cutoffs.
I'll also be adding a "xx of 47 songs" display for 6-stars and 7-stars everywhere you see it for 5-stars now (manage scores, browse scores, rankings, top scores) except the signature images, that could be something for the future but would require much more work to redesign those. _________________

It would be neat if you could see your fractional ratings, i.e. score/base_score + 2, so that you could easily see how close you are to the next rating level. |

This is a really terrific idea, which I wholeheartedly support!
