Quiet Strum Bar Guitar Controller?

Okay a question about the velcro here..

Am i supposed to place it so it goes all the way around to the front of the guitar, or just on those 4 specific places on your picture shin? Since I tried
it but i thought i should put it round out to the front aswell, but that made
my strum bar getting stuck while playing :P

Just on the inside where the rubber pads on the strum bar make contact with the shell.

It works very well, sometimes it barely doesn't even click :o Its a great mod especially in songs like misirlou where all you usually hear is clicking now u hear the song!

Hey, Shin, in regards to your modification, I don't see how it would work. I cracked open my SG controller to get a better look at what's going on in there, and as illustrated in the picture below, the white switches circled purple are what cause the clicking.

What you've done with the velcro is merely padded the strum bar from hitting against some other plastic. The parts circled in red hit against the velcro. Personally, I have had no trouble with the parts circled in red. But the switches (once again circled in purple) are still unaltered, allowing for their clicking rampage to continue, no?

If it does stop the clicking, I would just like to know how it does. I haven't gotten the velcro yet to try it out, and I just wanted to know if this stops the clicking I am specifically talking about or if there are more effective solutions I can try.

I've used the electrical tape method. It doesn't stop the clicking (as you say, that's caused by a switch anyway), but it cuts down the noise the Strum Bar makes as it comes into contact with the plastic of the SG itself.

Mine is quieter now, but yes, it still clicks.

Well, it is the clicking that I want to stop so I think that I will go ahead and try the electrical tape method only I will cover the switches themselves. That will at least muffle the clicking.

I was doing it the electrical tape style, and after putting it where other have put velco, I noticed there was still some excess clicking (not the switches doing their job loudly). I put 4 layers of electrical tape on top of the switches , the parts previously circled in purple. I found that 4 was too think and playing didn't feel right and it messed up playing a bit, so i took it back down to one layer and it is still fairly quiet. If you do this, make sure the electrical tape on top of the switches is slightly smaller than the top of the switch, otherwise it will stick to the black part of the switch.

I also found out that the switches click before they actually close, meaning that if you used the perfect thinkness of tape, you might make them stay in between where they click and actually completing the circuit, eliminating that too, but I think it might interfere with playing to much to be feasible.

im 13 and i did it easy. But be careful wit da screws. dont strip them.

Well, I tried the electrical tape method on the switches a few days ago and I couldn't get it where it was normal unless I alternate-strummed, which I hate. So I took it off.

If I left the electrical tape on and played it long enough, would it stretch the tape to the point where it would be good again?

why dont you just take the clickers out if the clicking is the problem, there is a lot of info on here about how to take the clickers out. its a very tiny piece of metel in each of the white switches you have circled in purple

my friend VERY VERY carefully sprayed wd-40 in the four corners of the strumbar (without opening it) this magicly disabled the clickers.(the plastic still hits a little.

not recomended cause i have no idea how it worked.

by the way. its a original sg. and i mean original, engraved red octane logo on back instead of sticker

Would highly recommend rubber instead of velcro, e.g. cutting up a mousepad and using it. A part from silencing you then also get natural bounceback which is quite nice for songs such as misirlou
