I purchased the Demo yesterday for Guitar Hero 2 (November Issue of OPM).

Hammer Ons and Pull Offs are now possible. They apparently changed the sensitivity. So now Hammer Ons and Pull Offs work like regular notes in that you can be a bit late and still hit the note.

This is awesome.

I was playing through one of the songs on the demo and noticed that I wasn't strumming but I was hitting the notes.

I can't wait for full GH2.

that's super good for me because a) hammer-on are fun b) I tend to rely on hammer-ons in GH and they never work, but in GH2 they will it'll make me a better player for sure Mr. Green

Agreed - last night, for my "Crossroads" rivalry I was forced to downstrum the whole friggin' song because HOPOs are so unreliable - I can't see myself every returning to GH1 after GH2 is released

Yeah, I HO/PO all of the little solo part in YYZ before the main riff starts in. I never miss it now. I used to think that'd be a part I'd never learn, too, but with HO/PO it's very easy. Also the solos and trills are far easier now.

Yeah, originally i was amazed to see how in Phreak's video how easily he flew through some of the trills, especially in Strutter. But having just played through i have to say, trills in particular are so much easier with the new HOPO's.

I think Red Octane also said you don't have to hold the notes before it to HO/PO. In my opinion, that makes the game too easy, or at least not as realistic. I haven't played the demo yet so I'm not sure about this.

Question, can you strum, miss a HO/PO and still HO/PO the rest? Or do you need to restrum to start up the chain again?

Cause if its the former thats way to easy.

to answer your question, if you mess up once, you have to strum again to continue the hammer on/pull off.

also, in the first one, you don't have to hold down the previous button to do pull offs, i don't know why they said that it has changed. try it out on killer queen without holding down the previous button.

Really? I don't think I've ever noticed that when I play.

It works sometimes but its upreliable. I am just syched about the increase in opportunity ranges to hit the HO/PO.

There's a song with a little solo that goes YBOYBO YBYRY

you can do the whole thing with hopos...and that goes down to the red without holding the red at all. It's just you have to have exact timing.

It's plenty realistic, depending on the situation. A slide will give you the same effect as a chromatic PO when playing a real guitar. Considering that there's only 5 fret buttons, a whole lotta stuff is gonna be chromatic. That and it'd be pretty hard to do OBYRG in a PO sequence if you had to hold down all 5 buttons.
