Teenage kids want this as a ringtone simply because they can hear it and adults can't. They could have their phone on in class and not worry about it being taken away because only teenagers can really hear it. _________________

I love that the mosquito noise was originally developed as a way for shopkeepers to stop "those damn punk kids!" from loitering in front of their store without adversely affecting adult clients... and now it's been repurposed as a ring tone. Yeesh.
Of course, it's not that all adults can't hear it or that all young'uns can hear it, for that matter. (I'm 28 and I can hear it just fine.) Check out this site here if you want links to various mosquito-style rings at various hertzes. It's like your very own hearing test, courtest of Teh Intarwebs(tm)! _________________

it isnt that only young people can hear it, it is just that most older people cant thats the only appeal to the ringtone, not that it sounds good
personally i like the sound but i havent met anyone else who likes it
when i get another cell phone i think i might get it |

I think I hear a very faint sound...
And for the record, vibrate works even better, and comes free with every phone. |

I can hear it, but it's very faint to me, which I blame on the permanent ear damage i've achieved from loud music. |

HAHAHAHA! I just turned the Mosquito ringtone on and forgot my dog was in the room. She FREAKED OUT. She jumped up, started tilting her head from left to right looking at one spot in the ground and is now walking around in circles.
And Matt, vibrate doesn't really work too well. The vibration of the phone is pretty damn loud...especially when you need it to be completely silent to adults. _________________

i got it on my phone for free...but all that happens when i play it is the noise of dead air. I can hear it fine on my PC speakers...my phone isn't shitty either, i'm pissed. _________________
