the genesis was the second video game console i eer owned, first one in this country. I have many fond memories of my genesis and how much it owned. Some of my favorite games on the genesis were:

Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 (me + Johnny Cage > u)
NBA Jam (BOOMSHAKALAKA)
General Chaos(this is probably the game your thinking of kachie)
Gunstar Heroes (Me and my brothers whore game)
WWF Raw (Brett Hart > shawn Michaels)
Sonic 2, 3, and Sonic and Knuckles (i remember that you could hack Sonic 2 and 3 to have knuckles in it from the cartridge, made the game 100x easier)
Jordan vs. Bird super 1 on 1 (i am the master of the three point shootout)

and the list goes on and on

No, but there was a hack that was basically Knuckles in Sonic 1. It didn't use the lock-on, but was instead a standalone ROM.

You Sir, have excellent taste in games. A bona fida classic (soooo much fun multiplayer. The rocket launchers and dynamite rocked heh)

My other favs were;

Ghouls and Ghost (so freaking hard)
Thunderforce 4 (uber blastathon Mr. Green freaking hard too! )
Quackshot
All the Sonics
Streets of Rage 1&2
Castle of Illusion
Streetfighter 2
Earthworm Jim
Desert/Jungle/Urban Strike (Urban Strike was a bit sucky, but the others rocked)

I still have my Mega Drive to this day
