The magazine should be available today. I went to Barnes & Noble yesterday and they said it will hit newsstands today, October 16th. _________________

"The Metal" is awesome, it seems to be a little harder than GH2 was, but that's just my opinion. _________________

The demo is on the same disc, located in the options menu. GH3 is looking to be VERY fun, but I found some glitches in the demo. You can press Start while it's loading and it will stop.. Whoa.. There are a few glitches with the start button here and there.
Anyway, the demo allows you to:
Quick Play (All difficulties)
Multiplayer: (Face-Off and Guitar Battle only)
Training: (Tutorial & Practice)
Options (accessed while playing a song): Calibrate lag and whammy
I wanted to say that it will be very hard to get all SP from the whammies, because a lot of the times, even if you whammy like crazy. Anyone know if they'll release note charts/SP paths for the demo songs? _________________

I noticed this too when I was playing and you can also see it in most of the YouTube videos out there - just because you start using the whammy bar doesn't mean that the game recognizes it. I guess this is what the whammy calibration is for? |

As recommended by an earlier post in the thread, I picked mine up today at Blockbuster. I believe I got the last issue they had on shelves (Charlottesville - Seminole Square), but I'm very happy so far.
The game glitches, though. First all, it doesn't save data (this is probably intentional, but I don't know why), and it sometimes after completing a song will go into this "Guitar Hero III information screen" with all of the information about the upcoming game. It's annoying because it resets the demo every time.
Anyone else having this problem? |

That's how most xbox demos that I've seen work. I think for this oxm one you play a certain number of songs and it resets. I know with the skate demo you could only play for a half an hour. |

The demo is timed. You get around 20-30 minutes to play, unless you would like to play the same song over and over. If you're doing that, you better be quick to get your stats at the end, because it only shows up for <2 seconds before it shows the ending screens.
I tried out the whammy calibration - all it sets (apparently) is when the whammy is at resting position. To get all the SP from a long note, you really have to whammy furiously. _________________

yeah... i found a working copy of the demo online... it's for xbox 360 and doesn't require modification... you just burn to a cd-r, put it in and select from the demos list on the dashboard... i'm not sure if sharing this would violate the copywrite disclaimer so i'm not gonna post it here but pm me if you want to know... |

I've been checking Barnes & Noble everyday and I finally got the demo today.
My first impression: It's easier! I had heard that in GHIII we wouldn't have to be quite as precise, but there were several times where I said, "Oh my God, I can't believe I nailed that solo!"
Not that I'm complaining. In fact, I think what this means is that the note charts for the final tier songs will looking even more intimidating than Hangar 18 and Freebird, but because it's designed to be slightly easier, the overall difficulty will be about the same.
This will probably make the game a lot more fun overall. I'm very happy!
When the real game finally comes out, I won't be able to sleep for a week. |

Yeah thats the only problem I had with the demo.
I got the demo from a local newsstand yesterday and played it last night.
Freakin' awesome. I can't wait for the full game!
The best thing is that the HOPOs are easier to get somehow. |
