I'm new to guitar so.... I know what an "0' means, open string, buts whats a "(0)" mean?? _________________

I believe it means ghost note... Just do a Wikipedia search for ghost note. _________________

It means open string. The numbers corespond to the frets played, so 0 is no frets.
x is commonly used for a ghost note. _________________

X is a dead note... 0 is open yes, but (0) is different, it's a ghost note. _________________

Hmm... normally you ghost with a fretted note.. by putting less pressure on the fret... for an open.. strum lighter..? I have no idea in that case. _________________

the last time i checked (and i figured out guitar tabs yesterday) (0)=play the note, no frets held down. _________________

The best thing I can think of doing would be a arpeggio like technique, where if the next note is on another string, sweep the strings and mute the (0). If it's on the same string, then treat the ghost note as a grace note. _________________

Ghost notes are typically represented with the parentheses around the note, ie - (0), (8), etc. Ghost notes are notes that are not actually played, usually done with a delay type setup.
X is a denotation of palm muting or if the string is not played (muted) as in the case of a multi string chord with skipped strings. _________________

0 means play the note open.
For Example, if you want to blow someones ear off, play this as fast as you can

I'd describe a ghost note as a note thats heard but not actually played.
For example you played an open 6th string for a whole measure but you wanted it to ring for another measure, you'd use a ghost note to represent that.
Im not a guitar player or an expert at reading tabs but thats what Im thinking. |
