I'm loving how many custom songs we have now,,,but, it's just a little too tedious putting them in Guitar Hero II. I mean the fact that alot of mp3s are different, and I have to fiddle with the offset in GHex, and it looks good but ends up being out of sync anyway whenI burn it. Any better methods??? |

What you're describing as 'tedious' is the best method of doing it at the moment, bar none. Trust me, it used to be a lot more annoying and tedious. GHEX takes something like 4 minutes to convert sound files to VGS - the old way of doing things ran anywhere from 20 to 50 minutes, per file, nevermind actually inserting it with GHEX.
So, in short - there aren't any better methods. You've already got the cream of the crop. _________________

I see...that's what I figured. The only reason it's "tedious" is because it shows up perfectly in GHex but sucks in GHII. I mean it's still on sync for the most part, but if I went to its true rythm I would get notes wrong... |

It's true that it takes a bit of time to do all this, but all these workflows and utilities are still early in development.
The import function in ghex for example is the first working version, and the whole synching procedure will be easier/quicker in future versions.
It's just that the priority right now is to get something out there, and polish it later.
Thus all the bugs, errors, slowdowns, etc. _________________

if it was any easier, you would know and it would stickied in this forum. there are several very bright people working at this trying to find new and easier ways. as soon as it get's easier, this will be the first place to find out. and by the way Ghex makes it 50 times easier than it was before, so be thankfull for that improvement! _________________

I don't mind waiting 10 minutes for a file to go in.
Even if it is off sync, it only takes <1 afterwards to reinsert with a different offset. |

My concern was never that it took long...I realize it's ridiculously fast for inserting songs...I was just asking if there was any way to test my custom songs before burning it.... |

Get a midi sequencer that allows you to insert audio files. Sonar 6.0 is what I use and it's amazingly accurate.. I can play the song.. zoomed in on the piano roll, and get every note right ontop of the guitar :P But the program is pricey but if ur a musician or in a band it's handy. |

Not wanting to seem like a newbie who is desperate to get a new toy... Any ideas of when a new version will be released? |

Soon-ish .. Need to finish off a new feature and then wade through all bug reports sent in since the last release (quite a few, but not many different bugs.)
Might be beginning of February, might not..
But rest assured, whilst you guys are waiting, I'm working hard _________________

Can't wait to see the new GHEx.
PS: Goddamn, I still can't believe I only discovered there was a 'new' version of GHEx with the Import function yesterday. Dumb me. |
