I might try this if I have the time. I have a really good idea for Week 1's challenge.
Not sure, yet, though... _________________

Just a little heads up on the week 1 results situation.
Sorry it has taken so long to get the first week's critiques posted, there are a number of factors that come into play that we didn't anticipate. Rest assured that we are taking steps to prevent this kind of delay from happening each week as participants have been good about honoring the deadline and so should we.
We are going to revise how we handle the critiques moving forward. As you'll soon see (tonight hopefully), Kaiser and I both spent considerable time critiquing each and every one of the submissions we received. For subsequent critiques, we will be splitting the submissions up amongst ourselves. We will then conduct a full critique of our half of the submissions. Once finished, we will trade critiques and then writeup a secondary critique of the submissions that we weren't assigned. Anyone familiar with how EGM does their reviews will understand how it works right away.
This should speed things up for us considerably. We are also going to be much more strict about our own deadlines and set aside milestone dates for each week.
I apologize again for the delay. _________________

I can jump in now, right? I didn't notice this thread for a while, and it didn't interest me much, but now I've got a very good idea for week 3. _________________

Wow those are some cool ideas I'd never think of. :O
Thanks so much for the critique! It takes a long time to read through and review those and I don't think anyone really minds the wait. You guys make valid points both about writing skills and game design, way better than critique I get when I was in school. :P _________________

Wow, too bad my week 2 submission wasn't so good, as Carrot have stated, I had trouble with my english, and working with time travel fucked things up when tried to put my ideas on paper on week 2. Oh well, hope you guys can understand. I plan to take a look at everyones submission when I have time. _________________

Awesome ideas! My favorite so far is Thrasher's Revenge though rkcr's and maml's were pretty nice too (Only done reading the top 3 so far).
Excellent reviews by the way. Totally worth the wait! Week 1 wasn't too strong for me, but I'm comin' for you guys in week 2. Look at me as the tortoise. Wait, that doesn't make sense... Anyways, grats on the great week 1 ideas guys! Time to read through the rest. _________________

There are some really awesome ideas in there. I haven't read through them all yet, but what I have seen so far is some really creative stuff.
Thanks for the critiques. They really help out. They should help me do a better job next time.
Riyunoa; our concepts are eerily similar, lol. Although, there are still some major differences. _________________

OK, I wish I had seen this sooner, cause I'd love to come up with some game ideas. A couple quick questions before I put my thoughts to paper(and I apologize if these have been answered somewhere, I looked through the whole thread):
1) Was the non-Beatmatch thing just for the first week?
2) For Week 3, you said combine two genres. Does Beatmatch count as a genre? i.e. are Action-Beatmatch or RPG-Beatmatch acceptable formats? _________________

I have submitted my design for week 3. And I swear, Nickisimo had no influence on my Action-Adventure/Fighting/Rhythm game. Heh, I can prove it because I had a friend look my idea over yesterday, if there's any question of impropriety. _________________

Correct, each week sees a different twist and the non-beatmatching thing was the twist for week 1.
Beatmatch isn't a genre per se, but Rhythm/music is, which is essentially the same thing. So if you want to do an Action-rhythm game, go for it.
I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of genres combined with rhythm.
That's alright though, it's great to see the differences and different routes taken. Honestly though, I'd love to see the craziest genre combinations possible, especially if they sound like they would form a cool game. _________________

Yeah, maybe it was because of the games we've played. :P You referenced GoW, and I had been playing DMC4 a month or so back. Maybe this shows that for every idea that we think is original, probably someone else thought of it before. XD _________________

gah, my spring "break" has ended all too quickly and without much of the "break." I ended up being way too busy and looks like a second week in a row that I won't be participating in
I guess this competition just came along at the wrong time of the year for me. I'll still try to participate in the coming weeks, though. _________________
