Congratulations BradWhite for being the 200,000th member!
In preparing some stats to present in this thread, I shockingly found that on this VERY same day we have coincidentally reached a grand total of 5 million scores submitted!
I know there have been quite a few historical/reflection threads lately between the new year, ScoreHero's 2-year birthday (Jan 28th, 2008), and 1-year birthdays for user memberships (hopefully all 200k of us won't be doing this, though ). But I still thought I'd share some stats as visuals to demonstrate the amazing growth in our relatively short history.
Users over time:
Average new users per day (over each month):
Scores over time:
Average score submissions per day (over each month):
Most daily user registrations: 796 on Jan. 13, 2008 (averaging a new user every 2 minutes)
Most daily score submissions: 32157 on Oct. 28, 2007 (averaging 3 scores every 8 seconds, GH3's launch)
It'll be interesting to see the next big spikes for GH: Aerosmith and GH4 with the userbase having grown so much in the recent months. Rock Band is also just starting to catch on as daily submissions continually rise.
I would also like to take this moment to extend a tremendous thanks to Harmonix and Neversoft for being awesome and continuing to support the fans of your amazing work; everyone on the SH staff here who has volunteered many hours with me to maintain the quality of this vastly growing community; and last but definitely not least, all the contributing and positively participating members who bring unique personality, encouragement, motivation, knowledge, and achievements that everyone comes here to enjoy. Thank you all! _________________

It's amazing to see a site that didnt even have 200 members when i joined now over 2 years ago to have reached 200,000 now. This is an awesome community and now we wait to hit 250,000. |

Compared to the staff I'm relatively a n00b, but I did join before we hit 50K (we weren't in the clear yet) its crazy to think that in less than a year we've increased 4x. o_o
Congrats Scorehero! /me passes out cake _________________

Shit...I don't even know what to say anymore. I'm absolutely, completely fucking speechless. I uh...shit, I've got nothing. Never saw it coming, generic "omg this site is so huge/awesome" stuff, etc. Nothing really good comes to mind. This site is a beast that cannot be fed. _________________

You know its a big deal when Kaiser can't think of something to say.
I'm another one of those old timers around here before there were 4 digits in the userID's, and I can share the sentiments of the others, it is just dumb-founding to believe that a simple fan-site could enjoy the same meteoric rise in popularity as the game that it idolizes. Look around at other game dedicated fan sites; it just don't happen.
Without Guitar Hero, we would not be here, therefore, I hereby elect that everyone play the original Guitar Hero today. Either dust off that old copy for fond memories or find a copy of it in stores to see what the big deal with this game was. _________________

/me ebays his 3-digit userID for $$$
Seriously though, I'm not sure what the future will hold for SH, but I don't think any of it is bad. The site growth and community just keeps getting bigger and better.
Huzzah for SH! _________________

Look at the community. It's grown so much. When ScoreHero first opened up, we didn't have a forum for the first few days. OH NOEZ!!!!! But the JCirri came to the rescue, and now we have one of the biggest, and best, communities on the internetz.
When the site first appeared, it didn;t have a member for three or four days. Then it took a year just to hit 10,000 members. After that, I believe it took three months to double figures. Now, we have almost 200,000 members, and the nine or ten Mods we have are so great to the site. Even though they are out numbered about 20,000 to 1, they can manage a great site, and a great community. Mods, please give yourself a pat on the back. You guys really deserve it.
People of ScoreHero, you guys are great to. We hardly ever get spam posters, and when we do, we know how to deal with it for the most part. The people of ScoreHero need a pat on the back too.
JCirri, it wouldn't be possible without you. You made the site, and you put SO MUCH effort into it. You didn't lose hope, and you didn't lose your work ethic. And look at what it has brought you. You get special trips to Harmonix and Neversoft to check out new games, and you get to meet awesome people, all for just making a score-keeping site. Good job, you get a special pat on the back.
Looking back, the site is alot better than one would think. And just remember, when a person tells you that you are a nerd for coming here, just look at them and say, WeHaveFreshCookies, what do you have? _________________

Wahaha. >_>
<3 elx, and all the other great users on the site. Without you guys, I'd probably still be one of the top players of the game. Or something. <_<
Though it was easy to be in the top 150 when there weren't even 150 members |
