I played it a few times one night at a local-ish Dave and Buster's on my birthday. It was the first time I played, but these people kept accusing me of having played it before. Why must I be cursed with a natural talent for rhythm games? T_T
Also, it takes a lot more energy than DDR. I was sweating hard after like a two star song. |

PIU is traditionally thought of as more difficult than DDR. It has a much wider timing window, but tends to have a lot more notes. Though, I think your initial tiredness may stem from not being used to PIU's setup.
I played this game a bit, and I like it. I never got all that good at it, though. |

I've only played it a few times, but I really like it. The closest to me is busted though. |

ive been playing PIU for about 5-6 years with a bunch of hiatus' in between.
we used to have a crew of players, but a lot of them quit over time.
heres one of my friends that used to play at USPF: http://youtube.com/watch?v=nLPBpusKVZI
he kinda winged the whole routine, considering we've never really had the newest versions of pump in town; he only had about a day to come up with a routine the day before the event lol (he was actually quite good at speed, but his heart was in freestyling) still really funny to watch though
we'd be more into it if we didnt have have our NX1 taken from us; now all we have is the Exceed 1 in the premiere 1 cabinet we have here in town. Unbelievably crappy pads FTL
i used to have some old vids on youtube but i took them down; might put them back up sooner or later
heres a few of my friend (i was the cameraman for all but the last one):

http://youtube.com/watch?v=IQDQq06SATA
my friends and i are gonna try and go up to olathe and play the NX2 up there about every other week; next time hopefully on the 19th
hope to see another kansas pump/GH player! |

speaking of WPF, i found it very satisfying to see all of Mexico and Korea go out in the first few rounds and see JBoy from the good ole USA make third in mens speed and to see hurtpiggypig do well in ladies speed. tis a shame we aven't gotten good at freestyle compared to the rest of the world. |

well i'm mexican and i must say that this WPF we were just terrible, I think nayeli got 2º place, but el wero really sucked this time, I expected more in speed
and freestyle was awesome!!! but mexico was bad in this one also, though i had a great time looking at them just in front of me _________________

i play pump too! i play since 2004/5, but the first time i saw the machine was in 2003
i like it a lot, but i prefer ddr
i've stopped the training due to a lot of reasons, but the biggest reason was the fail of brazil in wpf. i mean, we didn't had the chance to even GO, 'cause they didn't send our visas. that was fucking sad =~
but, now it's past, and maybe one day i can have the luck to go to a WPF competion (i'll need a lot, A LOT)

The brazillian freestyles are my favorite, especially Legal and RKW. Really nice videos there nauee.
I never noticed this thread until now. I've been playing for 2 years(a week after I moved to Florida), but previous DDR experience made learning easy. I had no doubles experience with DDR though, so making the move from CZ --> NM difficult.
I freestyle but I'm terrible at that.
Enter the Dragon NM bar - A 12 great 2 goods 4 misses (This is from today)

Old freestyle for Pray (laugh if you want lol I won't be offended)

I used to play it back when I was a teenager, but...
...Do you promise you won't laugh at me?...
...Do you?...
...Sure?...
...Really?...
...Cross your heart?...
...Well...
...but I was forced to quit playing by my Mom, because she said I sweated like a pig - playing it (and, in fact, I did - I was a bit of a fatass back then ) and that I was supposed to do more "normal" things in a shopping mall (I only played there), like go hit on girls or stuff.
On top of that, as I stopped playing, my interest for Pump faded along. So now I lost some of my coordination to take on Double and Hard (never could do a thing on Extra Expert), and like playing (or should I say, wailin' on) GH better. _________________

I agree with you. After reaching the Hard difficulty on PIU, I was playing Expert DDR songs like Healing Vision's 2MB remix and AAing it
This game is more fun, but more difficult. I still only play on the Hard/Crazy level but I'd rather do this and challenge myself than go and AAA Max300 or AA Maxx Unlimited. Not to mention, the arcade cabinets are cheaper to buy than DDR SuperNova cabinets ($8000 for the really nice PIU NX2 whereas it's $18000 for DDRSN2??)
Not to mention new cabinets have the whole USB thing. I haven't been to an arcade that has this in my area, until the NX2 came to my Frankies. _________________
