krylon fusion spray paint.

its meant for plastics, you dont have to sand or primer before and you dont have to clear coat over it.

i guess it dries like plastic as well, just google it i think they have a website.

Just as a little side, you might still want to sand it down, especially the pick guard cause it can get a little slick. And don't be afraid to throw down a coat of white Krylon fusion as a base. It really makes the colors stand out, especially the red... looks drop dead sexy.

I just painted mine and I'm adding solo buttons to it tomorrow.. Can't wait to show it off

im thinking what he means, is that since the pick guard is slick the paint will have a hard time staying on and it might chip more easily. so sanding it down is a good idea.

Putting the white undercoat is also good advice if you want the color to be true, instead of faded because of what color covered.

ya any spray paint meant for plastics will work, i used a brand called Plasti-Coat (or something like that, maybe Plasti-Koat) when i painted my first guitar. I didn't know about Krylon Fusion at the time.

Just a pointer: if you're going to sand the pick guard for proper adhesion, don't use a very aggressive sandpaper. 500-1000 grit would be perfect. anything heavier (400 and down) will show scratches in your finished paint, while a finer paper won't allow the paint to grab onto the plastic. HTH

I didn't like krylon fusion paints that much, made my SNES look like crap, looks like the paint was able to wrinkle pretty easily.

My favorite is automotive spraypaint. That's what I used on my guitar, and automotive clearcoat. Man that guitar has taken a beating and after several bike wrecks (my own fault), LOTS of playing and lots of drunken nights and slamming, there's just two nicks taken out of the back (pavement kills paint) and a couple scratches on the front.
