|
|
I've been looking around this forum for a week or so and have heard about people putting in solo buttons.
I'd like it if someone could tell me how to install them, and what materials i'll need etc..
Thanks in advance. |

lol^^ but yea...seriously make certain that you know you're going to use them, otherwise it's just a waste of time and a risk of screwing up your guitar _________________

There's a video of someone who did that, so yes, you could, but I'm not the one to ask how. |

After an exciting weekend (Computer Programming Competition Friday, SATs today), I finally picked up my push buttons and went to work...
Yes I know they're not straight and even but hey, they work right?
They work pretty well, except I need to find buttons that are easier to push. Since this was all radioshack had, I said screw it, I'll just get those. _________________

They're the same thing as the normal GRYBO buttons on an SG controller, except they're smaller, placed further down the neck, and placed closer together than the regular fret buttons. The idea behind doing this is that it's supposed to make it easier for your fingers to switch frets more quickly than you'd be able to with the full-size fret buttons. As far as putting them on the other end of the neck, well, go check out a video of someone rocking out during a solo and you'll see what we're talking about. |

Anyone have a wiring diagram for solo buttons? I noticed there is a ribbon cable going from the 5 buttons to 8 pads on the board. Was hoping there would be 10 (1+, 1- for each button) but 8 has me scratchin my head. And that link is dead above. |

if you take the circuit board for the fret buttons out and look at it, you can figure out which wires go to which. It's too late for me to go and rip apart mine, but if my memory serves me right, there's 6 separate solder points (5 for each of the buttons, and then one that goes to every single button, you'll definitely spot that one on the circuit board). Once you get everything right, it's pretty easy, just make sure you keep your hand steady when soldering to the circuit board. That was a huge pain in the ass when i realized I'd soldered a wire to two joints. _________________
