I've been playing for about 4 days now and I pretty much suck. I can pass most 3s (Normal: Celebration, Genom Screams, Lift me Up, Toxic, YRGM; Hyper: First Day, Funkytown, I Was the One, Nothin Aint Stoppin Us, Way you Move, Virtual Insanity) and passed Outer Limits on Beginner (why is this a 1???) but haven't been able to pass Hitch Hiker, Mr. T or Digital Mind on normal. AA'd a few songs but no AAA's yet. Anyone have any advice for what to hit next? _________________

What you need to hit next is the "order swapmagic and Beatmania IIDX: Happy Sky" button _________________

Work on raising your speed mods. Most good players play at least HS4 at 150 bpm. |

Off-topic: What is SwapMagic? It sounds like a way of playing import games...do you have to mod your PS2 at all for it to work?
On-topic: I just got this game earlier today. I'm so awful at it, it's great. Reminds me of when I first started with DDR in 2003 or so. _________________

Swap Magic can play imports, yes. It can also do other things that we're not allowed to talk about.
Basically what i'm saying is never say "Swap Magic" on these forums anywhere again.(and no you don't need a modded ps2)
But Happy Sky owns, if you really get into BMUS I'd look into getting SM and HSky _________________

Do recommend getting Happy Sky though. Or any other Style.
Some of them have exclusives that aren't on any other. |

God, I hate people who imply that being good equates with having a high read speed. Personally, I read 150 at HS3 and haven't had any trouble reading clustered shit (read 11s and 12s). If you actually talk to the really good players, you're more likely to hear more about using a towel and lower HS (or Sud+ on RED and later). |

And I hate people that think that because they are good at something its the only way to be good at it.
It's still true that the majority of good players use hispeed 4 on things up to 150 bpm, whether you do or not. Maybe it has to do with the fact that many of these players were good before sudden+ was available. But its still a fact. Now stop being a dick and saying you hate someone because they stated a fact. |

Stating a fact, eh? Let's go look at V (150 BPM) on Another. Out of the 14 AAAs listed on VJA, only 6 of them are at HS4. That's slightly less than half of the AAAs. I think that would stand to contradict you. I think that people who AAA V would fall under the "good" category of IIDX players and represent a decent cross-section of players. If you look at the HSs used by players across the board, you'll usually see it vary from something like 2-4.5 for a song at 150 BPM, depending on the player. And as for players who were good before SUD+, it's called a towel, it's SUD+ for styles without it. |

People reading this are not looking to AAA 12's. They are looking to pass things for the first time. |

I've had US Beatmania for a while now, and one thing that bugs me is the timing. When I first got it I went crazy, playing who knows how long. I'm not saying I'm a master of timing, but when it comes to games I'm pretty damn good at that. But I can't even AA something (even an easy song). So, is it just me or is the timing on this game the most anal thing ever? |

No, 8th Style is strict. Honestly, though, it took me nearly 6 months before I got my first real AAA (by Japanese scoring) on US. |
