Opening external links in new windows...?

Clicking around the wiki, I feel that it's better if you click on an external link within a wiki page, it should open a new tab/window rather than using the active window. Is this something that can be easily implemented, or is it something that the community is against? I just feel it would make it easier to use.

I've though about this before and I think it's best if the it's a hyperlink instead of another wiki page, then it should open up to a new window. If it's just redirecting you to another wiki page, then it should stay in the same window.
