I just realized why there's no vocals...

I was thinking a bit about why there would be no vocals, beyond just shifting the blame to laziness. My first thought was the interface style--with two five-column guitar/bass charts and an up-to-seven-column drum chart all taking up the full vertical length of the screen, there's really no good place for a vocal display. Then it hit me.
As far as I know, the Japanese versions of Karaoke Revolution are simple karaoke programs--they don't judge your pitch. The American versions added pitch detection and judged your performance.
The American versions of Karaoke Revolution were developed by Harmonix. Last time Konami did pitch detection, they needed Harmonix to do it for them.

Thought that'd be good for some cheap laughs.
