No, you tilt the guitar as usual to set it off (select button probably works, too, but it's not as necessary as there's no squeezing). It fills up your "Rock Meter" (or Atmosphere Meter in this game) and anything extra is turned into a point bonus.

Therefore, It would seem to be that the optimal score for any song would be to hit every note perfectly (easier said than done), and to activate as soon as possible in order to begin filling back up. It feels so weird to activate anytime even if there's no notes.

It'll do auto-activate like GH3 if you keep it tilted, as well.

Or, alternatively, tape Select down. Works for my Stratocaster

The sooner you activate SP, the more you get?

How can it be possible? No SP strategies needed?

The amount of points you get from activating is based on how much time is left in the song. That would mean logically, the faster your activations are, the higher the score you will get.

To get the highest scores possible, you would need to both hit every note accurately (I prefer hitting the notes early/alt-strumming them, it counts as on time) and using your SP (I completely forgot what it was called in this game) as soon as you can. If taping down the select button on my Les Paul works, hopefully it could help get some 1sts.
