I suppose I should post in here, as it's likely been assumed (what with my obvious Touhou fixation) that I would be interested in anime.

Sure, I could help with that.
What genre you looking for? I'll make a short list here of some I'd personally recommend. Also, I'll link you to a site with basic information about them.
-Azumanga Daioh - 10/10 - a humorous slice of life anime covering the daily lives and happenings of a group of high school girls with unusual personalities. I can't describe it any more sufficiently, as you'd have to watch it to see the appeal, but the same person who was in charge of Azumanga also created the Yotsuba&! manga, available for reading here.
-Fate/stay night - 9/10 - A moderately decent quality anime involving a fair bit of action and fighting. A good starter, perhaps.
-Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - 10/10 - Possibly the best I've seen, which is odd considering that it's a mech anime. (note: I normally hate mech anime) Seriously, it's well worth your time.
-Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - 10/10 - I take that back. THIS is superior. It it made of amazing and mindfuck.
-School Days - 3/10 - shit, don't watch
-Rozen Maiden - 9/10 - I dunno, read the description in the link. ¯\(°_o)/¯
-Claymore - 7/10 - Another fighting-based show. Good at first but near the end got tiring and repetitive. (note: I'm not so interested in this genre)
I think I'll stop there. If you care, the only ones listed here that have english dubs are TTGL (starting being shown several months ago on Sci-Fi) and Rozen Maiden, as far as I know. _________________

I have to recommend Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

At first I thought it was a little weird but after a couple eps. I was hooked. Near the end of the anime there's not much to say but EPIC. My fave of all time! |

No.
I've never liked anime-- which is really weird, because I love other cartoons-- but anime has always bugged me.
I could go on into why I don't like anime, but I can tell that would just piss people off, so... I'll leave it at that. _________________

Holy shit. This is like the first time I've walked into an anime thread and not known what the hell anybody was talking about. What are you people watching these days? I'm afraid to say some of the series I've watched because it'll suggest I'm older than I rightfully am. |

Oh man, I wish I had kept a list of everything that I've watched...I'm pretty sure I'm over 50 series at this point O_O
Lets see...what comes to mind right now of anime I really enjoyed:
Death Note (bolded for awesomeness)
Scrapped Princess
Love Hina
Yakitate! Japan (funniest anime ever. seriously.)
Fate/Stay Night
Kaze no Stigma
Elfen Lied
Neon Genesis Evangelion (this show is what got me in to anime lol)
Kanon (one of the remakes...2002 I think? normally I don't really like omgtears anime but this one was really well done imo)
Bleach when it's not in shitty filler
Claymore (agreed about the ending with whoever posted about it)
Full Metal Alchemist
RahXephon
Eureka Seven (!!!)
There's plenty of others that I've watched and really enjoyed but I can't think of atm =(
One show that I honestly don't really like is Cowboy Bebop. Before you all grab your pitchforks and torches and come hunt me down, there are some elements of the show that I like, but overall something about it was just really..."meh" to me. I've never really understood the craze over the show.
As much as I tend to hate the super elitist anime nerds, to the people posting in this thread that only watch anime on adult swim, do yourself a favor and broaden your horizons a bit. Adult Swim has picked some very good shows don't get me wrong, but imo it's a much better experience in japanese (acting is better and fansub translations tend to be better). Plus there's a lot of fantastic shows that you'll never get to see on cartoon network. _________________

No, we are not. This thread is all about bread, and how delicious it is. It has nothing to do with anime. _________________

Can we cut back on the spam/useless/pointless posts please?
Anyway... there were at least two references to Death Note in the thread, I'd also like to throw out a recommendation for this series. It's an awesome series. I love the character L. In fact I've seen like 5 different avatars of him throughout Scorehero in the past month or so.
And the person who didn't get why Cowboy Bebop is so hyped up.. I've seen the series and I liked it, and I don't know what it is that everyone sees in it to justify its popularity, but what I liked was getting to know the characters and backgrounds of all the characters. There is at least one episode dedicated to one of the characters to deeply inform you of their past. Also.. man I wish I kept it or could at least remember it, but once in high school, in English class I had to write a poem as an assigment and I wrote somethings entirely based on the background story of Faye. Some girl in my class saw me withdraw my paper from my notebook and asked to read it, and she said it was really good. I'm not a poet and I hate poetry, go figure.

Clearly I'm not alone when I say I love Death Note, but I seem to be one of the few people who like naruto... seriously what's wrong with naruto?
(I've also dabbled in some Bleach, FMA, and a few others) _________________

the problem i have with naruto is that it just keeps going, filler and all. if it had an ending, it could go out in its prime and become legendary like Bebop or FMA. (admittedly FMA deviated from the manga, but at least it wasn't filler) _________________
