Good to see what's going on in the development cycle. I knew rkcr stepping down would play a huge part in why the redevelopment basically came to a grinding halt... But I'm with 9001:

Basically, make the game selecting more awesome than just clicking on abbreviations. |
I think that this is a very good idea but you might want to suggest it here and im sure people will definitely vote on it |
Keep in mind people with slow or dialup connections, that would take forever to load that many pictures, and would only get worse as more games are added |

That sort of idea would work if the images themselves were smaller. EG have a bar that's say 200px wide, 19px high, have an image of the game on the left, and then the title on the right in a pixel font, and then there would be dropdowns for each difficulty, instrument and setup. I'll draw up what I'm getting at when I open up Photoshop next. _________________

I like scorehero's simple yet snappy interface. It's one of the only websites that i frequent that simply works well. Adding in pictures to make things look fancy is unnecessary. Look at ign.com. That butt ugly interface is impossible to use...
I prefer function over form. _________________

Function is true. But Guitar Hero Smash Hits is Guitar Hero Greatest Hits in Australia and Europe. It would confuse people when selecting abbreviations. However if they saw the box art they'd be like "Yep, that's my game". _________________

You mean like I did on ddrhometracker (my first score tracking site) years ago?

I don't know, function over form has definitely always been my philosophy keeping interfaces simplistic, uniform, and easy to use. There's still improvements we intend to make to further improve things from a usability standpoint and cut down on page reloads. Those will be the main focus, and then we'll see how we can enhance the style/look without sacrificing any of the underlying function.
I should also mention, internationalization is one of our goals which may handle situations as mentioned in the prior post, even without the need for images. _________________

Those images were quite large, and it took a while for them to load. Maybe you could have a flash display? That would be pretty sweet, anyone on the staff good at using flash? _________________

Can you give us any new info or an update on the progress of this JC (or anyone associated with this)? I'm RA has taken a lot of time away from this, but it would still be nice for the users to know where this is at, even if it is not very much. |

How would a flash display make it any smaller of a file size, unless you plan on converting everything to vector imaging (the type of imagery used in Flash)? If that were the case, I would be more than happy to do something like that for the site, being well versed in Flash myself. _________________

No need for an image and I think that would do the trick, while being pretty simple. |

It's a fairly simple matter to just display the game name for the user depending on the region they are in. |

Why not just call it "GH:Hits" It takes up less room that posting both titles or an image, and it gets the point across. It's how it is named on the 360, and that works well. |
