I decided to paint my SG today. I ran into a problem however when I was painting my pickguard. I held the can stupidly and it shot enough propelant out to leave big gouges in the paint. I tried to whipe it clean and repaint it but now it looks all uneven and ugly. Any suggestions?

Sand it.
Once smooth, clean dust and repaint.

pickguard i'm assuming means the strumbar. As stated earlier, just sand it all off and try some nylon fusion paint.

I've painted a few guitars, and finally decided the strumbar wasn't worth painting. Due to constant pressure and swet from the fingers it wears off rather quickly. So I decided to use ducktape from now on to get the color for the strumbar. Put it on once you have the whole guitar together, just make sure u don't pinch the edges..

I have it figured out before I checked back. I found some 400 grit sandpaper laying around and decided to try using it. It's pretty dirty though so I'm going to pick up some of my own later.

Before you repaint don't forget to use a very fine grit after the rougher sanding to make it as smooth as possible.

Yep. Something above 500 is good for it, right?

I used 400 grit when I sanded mine. I messed up the first time too and had to redo it.
