Hey there, SH. If my blabbing and bragging has never reached you in the past, you may try my friend's youtube page to observe that I'm in a band. You may also know that PAX, the Penny Arcade Expo, is happening in my city this september. It's probably the single biggest gaming convention or at least the best one that America has to offer and we were going to busk out by the doors. For those of you not up on lingo, busking is pretty much street performing, but with less homelessness usually. We were going to play tons of game music and some real songs that we thought would please the type of people who are obsessed with games like myself. Together my guitarist and I made a big list but we wanted ot learn more so we have tons of material to I'm posting this thread to you, game-crazed masses, to tell me what songs I should play. I'll play pretty much anything game. You'll have to post a youtube video of it or something so I can actually hear it to decide i we like it enough to add it to our already giant list. The only thing we're going to really veto if RPG stuff because none of us play any of those games and there are sixty thousand final fantasies; we don't want to deal with the bigger nerds who come up and go "aw man you know that one song it plays in FFVI when you fight that one boss blah blah..."
BTW: the videos on that channel are a year old, we're much better now.

Some (not all) of the songs currently planned and learning:
Dr. Mario- Chill
Sonic the Hedgehog- Green Hill Zone, Marble Zone
STH2- Emerald Hill Zone
Mario Kart 64- Luigi Circuit
F-zero series- Big Blue, Mute ciry
Halo Theme
Ducktales- The Moon
Mega Man 2- Dr. Wily
Tetris A and B
and others I can't remember right now.
jesus fucking christ I never use macbooks and it sucks so much typing this on one the keyboard is so damn counterintuitive

Have you played: Tomb Raider 2 or 3, Die Hard Trilogy, DooM, Duke Nukem 3D, Quest For Glory series? There's some good (even atmospheric) tunes to glean out of those games, but the trouble is that those are from the PS1 generation of gaming, and you might lose some of those listeners with uncouth ears.

My guitarist has suggested Duke Nukem music, so we'll probably play something from that. And I didn't know there was much cool music in the early Tomb Raiders, all I remember is classical stuff at the beginning of TR2.

Sonic 3 Boss Fight music. Specifically if you could play this arrangement of it, it would be totally badass. But the original works too.

You could try the Galacta Knight Battle Theme from Kirby Super Star Ultra or the Monty on the Run Main Theme, both would be very good for a band remix

Try the original Doom theme song.

Either that or, if it hasn't been mentioned, the Super Mario Brothers theme

If somebody hasn't already suggested Final Fantasy, the one I would recommend above all others is To Zanarkand.

It is a beautiful piano piece, quite mellow, and very slow, so play it at the beginning or at the end, DEFINITELY not in the Middle

Also, there is Command and Conquer. Some of those pieces would be good.

Hell March is the most well-known.

Either Sonic Boom or City Escape better be played. They are two of the best videogame songs to date. This might be stretching it, but "Guitar Hero" By Monkey Steals the Peach (a HMX band) would be awesome. The classic Mario Bros theme is a must. Just give it a heavy metal drum beat and turn up the distortion and overdrive on your guitars.

Also, WATCH THIS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKWXuKeSGiI . If anybody has ever played BK, you will remember this song. This remix is amazing and guitar tabs are online.
