I don't know if this has been suggested or not, but how about a link that takes you to a search page so that you could find what you need, when you need it.

I think he means on the wiki, since this is wiki brainstorming. If that's the case, there is a search box. It's located on the toolbar at the bottom of each page.

Alternatively, there is a page with just a search bar and if you want expanded results you can use this page.
