So after excelling in guitar to as far as I think I'll go, I've taken it upon myself to be great at drums. So I've beaten Hard, and half of Expert (mainly due to most songs being Y Y Y RY Y Y Y etc.) But I'm having problems.

My main weakness is the bass pedal. I know that I'll just get better at seperating my arms and foot with practice, so nothing I can learn about that.

But my other fault with drumming is switching pads quickly. If it's a steady, medium-paced beat (notes aren't close enough to touch on Hyperspeed 0) I can do it no problem. But some fast drum fills are just out of my skill. Is there a technique to switching from, say, 6 Reds in a row, switching to Blue for one hit and then back to Red for a while, switch to Green? Or will I just get faster and more accurate the more I play?

In terms of switching pads quickly, the thing you want to work on is the diddle, which is hitting twice in a row with the same hand (RR or LL). For a pattern like

<repeat>

if you try to just alternate all the hits you'll get hopelessly tangled up, since you'll try to hit R on red and L on blue.

RLRLRLRLR L
<repeat>

A much better sticking is:

RLRRLRLRLL
<repeat>

No crossing of hands, and you still end up ready to start the pattern anew with R. Just work through tough sections to get this.

Stickings and You - Making Parts Flow

This is a sticky over on the Rock Band drums forum.

The same principles apply.

I would suggest keep practicing. It was a while before I could hit some drum rolls. They come over time
