Wow, seems their suit actually has some merit, unfortunately. >_> _________________

I'm not familiar with patent law, is it really that bad if they were using it before the patent was issued? I would assume so since the article states they have a strong case, but that does seem a little unfair. =/ Also, if the patent was issued in February 2007, why did it take them so long to bring up a lawsuit against NCsoft or any other companies making use of a virtual interaction server?
Hopefully this won't end up affecting Playstation Home... _________________

suing people keeps me employed - so keep it up.
anyway - as inkjt said - nothing will happen. Court cases, especially patent cases take a LONG time. and it'll probably settle or whatever. _________________

I think software patents are hindering innovation more than they help it. This being a golden example of such hindering. _________________

If someone else used the technology before 2000, the case is gone, I think. There's a legal concept that translates to prior art that has been cited before. Specifically in FPSs. There was a free game called MIDI Maze that meant iD couldn't claim the idea of FPSs, or so I understand it. _________________

if they settle, i really hope Worlds.com doesn't get a cent. you can't patent the internet. _________________
