Sorry, can i ask what triggered means?? Never heard of that before .

Triggers are little devices that you put on the ring of your drum, whatever drum it may be, that pick up the vibrations of the drum head. They are then output through some sort of amplifier, or speaker, or what have you. Most commonly they are put on the bass drum, and then the snare. You can alter the sound of it because it's coming out electronically.

They are necessary to make the bass notes distinguishable at a certain speed and faster because a normal mic would pick up the sound that is still resonating in the drum and it would sound like a blur.

Some people take advantage of it by turning the volume up and playing little strokes on the bass drum to appear like they are playing faster.

Here's a LOL WTF video for everybody:

Jesus H. Fucking Christ. I don't care what pedal he's using, that is faster than I could ever even pretend to imagine.

Funny thing about Dyer's Eve is that it's not even that fast (relatively) and Lars Ulrich can't even play that fast legit. All of that is studio effects (along with other Metallica songs, such as Battery, All Nightmare Long, FFWF). Lars Ulrich is pretty a joke between other drummers.

I listen to a lot of Amon Amarth. While nothing is mind-boggling fast, he plays fast often and for a long period of time. I think it's all used pretty tastefully and he doesn't "blast" very much. Twilight of the Thunder God was recently GH5 DLC.

The Faceless is a great example of a band with a drummer who is both very technical and extremely fast.

Whitechapel is comparable in terms of speed, at least for short bursts, though they do it less often... The outro to Deamon (the procreated) has some really fast bursts of 5's and 9's.

The Red Shore, though, actually has some stuff a lot faster than either of those, I wouldn't be surprised if there's songs with 16th notes around 300 bpm or higher. Unfortunately, I don't like their music much.

The Berzerker is the only band to have a 300bpm (which is the highest) recorded double bass played by a human on a record.

I posted it in my first collection of videos.
