I want some new opinions from you guys. I've browsed the web and found many resourceful sites, but I'm curious to see if any new suggestions come up. Personally, I've had a guitar for about two years, but never really took it seriously until the past few months. I'm getting very used to chord transitions (open and E major barre shape, but I still need to tackle the A major shape). I'm also improving my rhythm. Lately, I've been using MartyzSongs on Youtube. He's a great instructor, but I want your suggestions. Here is what I've partially learned:
- Knockin' On Heaven's Door (easy, but I had to start somewhere)
- Stand By Me
- Lightning Crashes
- About a Girl
- Brown Eyed Girl
- Don't Look Back In Anger (good for my transitions, especially F major barre)
- Wonderful Tonight (chords and guitar lick)
- Intro to 'One' and 'Fade To Black'
- Hey Ya! (lol Outkast, but fun to play)
- Parts of 'Wish You Were Here' _________________

Smells like teen Spirit - Nirvana
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zepplin (good for finger picking)
Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
Thunderkiss 65 - White Zombie (good for galloping techniques)
Cat Scratch Fever - Ted Nugent (mabey a little hard for a beginner)
Kashmir - Led Zepplin
You Really Got Me - Van Halen(just the basic riffs not all the little solo fills)
Every Rose Has it's Thorn - Poison (good for chord structure)
Iron Man - Black Sabbath
Electric Funeral - Black Sabbath
Paranoid - Black Sabbath
Bang Your Head (Metal Health) - Quiet Riot
Rock and Roll All Nite - Kiss
Those are just some easy songs I first learned on the guitar. I would also learn you C, A, G, E, and D major and minor chords, those are the basic ones you can use for alot of songs. As for scales, I would learn the C, A, G, E, and D penatonic scales. These are the simplest scales that I can think of, and they are also the ones many people first learn. This is called the CAGED system. The CAGED system can be associated with any genre if music. Another think to do is to learn every note on the fretboard (chromatic scale).
Good Luck dude! _________________
