|
|
So I was thinking to myself today, what albums do I really enjoy all the way through, song by song? What albums can I sit down, and not need to skip any song on its way to the ending while enjoying all of it?
I realized that this kind of album is extremely rare for me, and can be boiled down to a very choice amount of albums.
Albums I would say fit this for me are basically just this (I'm probably forgetting more but this is basically it).
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
The Beatles - Abbey Road
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
So ScoreHero, what albums fit this description for you? Do any at all? If not are there some that get close? |

A non-30 album a month thread in my MD? GTFO
I guess I'll name a few of my favorites. It really makes or breaks an album for me if it has any tracks on it I don't like. He's a few in particular where I love every track:
The Antlers - Hospice
fun. - Aim and Ignite
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
Pink Floyd - Animals
Yndi Halda - Enjoy Eternal Bliss
This exercise was actually harder than I thought. I basically went through my RYM on all my 5 star albums and decided which ones I loved every track on. It was less than I suspected. I could usually pick out a track or two that I didn't necessarily skip, but was meh on. It makes sense that I came out with these 5 though. I've never really thought about it, but I leave these particular albums on repeat all the time, they each have 50+ listens from me, some 100+. |

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Focus III by Focus
Rossz Csillag Alatt Született by Venetian Snares
After about 20 minutes of going through my music library, these were the only ones I could think of. A lot of albums have just those 2-3 songs that I don't like, but these 3 I could listen to in full for a while before getting bored of them. _________________

I find it funny that Pink Floyd have showed up in all three posts, yet different albums each time hahaha.
But ya it was much harder than I thought as well (and also if I see another 30 days thread show up again I may jump off a roof). |

Gonna' continue the streak and say Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here. Nothing is wrong with this album; this coming from someone who sees the band as more wankery than anything. Have a Cigar and Welcome to the Machine both rank up in my favourite songs of all time, while the title track and Shine on you Crazy Diamond are both emotional and epic numbers. _________________

Nevermind - Nirvana
A Thousand Suns - Linkin Park
Treats - Sleigh Bells
I've never listened to Pink Floyd.
Also in the defense of the albums thing, I've always wanted to blog about music, but not many people really ever listen. A thread here gives me an audience of people who I know for a fact are interested in music, and not just omgdatwasondaradio kinds of music. |

This is going to make a lot of people double-take, but Matchbox Twenty's "Mad Season". Oh, and Colors, but I think you can get banned for even mentioning that album now. _________________

Was just the first two, decided to do Saturdays as well. | Serious advice now: No-one likes indecision in their work, so find what you like that you're even remotely good at, and stick with it. Don't flit from one thing to another, because that just smacks of a large lack of determination and drive. And people don't like you for that, and won't remember you for it. I mean, I get that you have a plucky spirit and a willingness to try new things, but there's a limit, man. | I might knock it down to just Thursday and Friday. |

It's a pretty short list, if I'm really honest with myself:
The Beatles - Abbey Road
The Breeders - Title TK
Lagwagon - Let's Talk About Feelings
The Long Blondes - Someone To Drive You Home
...I'll tentatively include Hospice by The Antlers - I completely love it at the moment, but I've not listened to it many times yet.
Might be one or two more but 30 hours of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood since Friday morning has sort of melted my brain. _________________

If I'm interpreting the topic correctly then here's a small selection of mine.
I think it's important to realise the difference between an album you can enjoy every minute of and an album that you like or think is good, though. _________________

Three Days Grace: One-X
System of a Down: Steal This Album!
These are the only two albums where I really like every song. There are good handful that One song breaks the flow, which is a shame lol. _________________

I don't think anyone in here was having trouble discerning the two. All I've seen are relatively short lists and people mentioning that they do enjoy every song and how they don't with most albums that they still like. It's not like it's complicated.

...or maybe it is for some people. |
