so I went to GenCon Indy this year, and entered the Guitar Hero tournament they were running. Sadly, after getting the top qualifier score, I found out they rescheduled the finals to a time that I couldn't be at. On the lighter side, I got to play the GH2 demo, which, aside from some random lagging during songs, was really awesome. But then later came the awesome part.

I attended Video Games Live, a concert full of video game music run by Tommy Tallarico (of Electric Playground fame) and Jack Wall (he's done music for Myst 4, Jade Empire, and some others). In the lobby they were having a GH2 competition. Silly rules: play any song on any difficulty, highest score wins. Thanks to getting to play a bit earlier, I scored a 194k on Who Was in My Room Last Night, which was high enough to win.

This is what I won, a Guitar Hero skate deck, signed by the people at the meet and greet there:

The signatures on it are:
Tommy Tallarico (from Electric Playground)
Victor Lucas (also from Electric Playground)
Jack Wall (the conductor and composer)
Marty O'Donnell (the guy that did the music for Halo)
Martin Leung (this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCUo4QI8LuA he did a Final Fantasy medley as well as the Mario one at the show)

They had me write my address down and said they had another prize package to mail to me as well, I'm not sure what all is in it.

All in all, I'd say a pretty good haul for just playing one song and getting a mediocre 4-star score.

That was pretty amazing. The Super Mario World song was incredible.

Congrats on winning. Was Who Was in My Room Last Night fun? It looked like it was the most entertaining out of all of the songs released so far.

i played Who Was In My Room Last Night, and it was definitely the most fun. It's kinda like the Ace Of Spades of GH2. I'm definitely gonna play it a lot.

yeah, I only got to play a couple songs total. Who Was In My Room Last Night was a lot of fun, though a bit repepetive. Arterial Black has a really really nasty solo in it. War Pigs was pretty good, except I was playing co-op with someone that had no idea what they were doing so I didn't get to finish the song.

haha, when I first got it I thought I'd just sell it on ebay and try to make some quick cash, but then I thought about it more, and decided to keep it and hang it on my wall.
