[update]
Boundless Optimism Mode GO!
sad news is go
FINALLY!!
[/update]
i'm almost surprised a topic on Earthbound hasnt been created, so i might as well. i ran a search and all i could find were occasional references/mentions of EB.
with the release of mother 3 in japan a while ago, and earthbound coming to Virtual Console in a short while (and the sales of that being directly proportional to how likely a release of M3 in the states will be), coupled with the fact that i just ordered a copy of mother 2, im kinda on a 'mother' kick right now (and if it isnt obvious, im a big fan of the series) also this.
so, enough of my rambling, how does everyone else feel about the series?

I love this game so much. I have the original cartridge, but I will probably buy it for Virtual Console, too. The music is so funky, original, and awesome.
I actually hadn't beaten this game until relatively recently.. I think it was about a year ago that my friend gave it to me along with a Super NES. I couldn't put it down.. |

I got it off the interwebz and I fell in love with it. It's one of those rare RPG's that are actually *gasp* CREATIVE AND INVENTIVE!
Fantastic. Although I haven't played in a while, I got to Fourside and stopped. |

You guys suck. I wanna play EarthBound now. XD
I picked up an SFC cartridge of Mother 2 earlier this year. Haven't touched it yet, though. I may never. I wanna find a copy of the English language version to play through again (had one years ago...lost to the sands of time). _________________

Holy shit I was about to make this thread.
I personally am an insane fan of earthbound, I've beat the game multiple times, Its just the funnest rpg to date. I hope that mother 3 gets a release in the US but some fan sites are making an english patch for the Japanese rom of mother 3.

I actually still have this original cartridge. That's gotta be pretty rare right?
Earthbound is the shit though, it was a tough game too. The final fight with Giygas was difficult. |

...I mean, uh, no. Not at all. Quite worthless, really. I'd gladly take it off your hands for $10, though. And I'm being generous.
XD
Seriously, that's freakin' awesome. Congrats for holding onto something that wicked for so long. _________________

Earthbound is pretty much amazing. Remember the ill-fated Earthbound 64, with the Nintendo 64 DD?
Yeah...man. First played Earthbound back in like, '95, maybe '96...my friend actually just gave me the game for free. I'm always surprised how many people haven't played it.

Let me put it this way... I have one of the battle themes and the Saturn Valley theme as two of my ringtones on my phone. I'm thinking about putting Dungeon Man's theme on it too, to set for those people that I have on my phone simply so I know when not to answer. _________________

Yeah... what an amazing rpg. Thanks to this thread, I'm now playing through it again (for the third or fourth time - I can't remember). Ah, the memories. _________________

Seeing this thread is making me continue my saved game that I haven't really worked on for a while now. Such a great title, hasn't really dulled at all for me over the past dozen years. It's one of those games where I can pick it up at any point within and still feel immersed in it, still have that original connection. Not many games still have that feeling.
And I found this little gem on Youtube. Bunch of teenagers acting out the beginning of the game. So terrible, and by virtue of that, Amazing.
