A guitar rhythm game... mixed with a fighting game engine...

The better you play, the better your character fights. Achieving difficult parts triggers special moves.
And of course, you're playing the BGM.

That would be my dream arcade game.

That could apply to basically adding a rhythm game into any sort of genre... except maybe FPS.

But imagine an RPG that had that. I don't know if anyone remembers Legend of Dragoon and when you attacked you could pull off a combo if you pushed the buttons at the right time. It was also in some other RPGs like FFX where you special required you to push buttons. That would be cool having something like that and then you level up and gain new song attacks and stuff.

I don't see why not.
Eventually people will discover it as a hybrid genre. I thought ever type of game and genre has already been invented but now with games like Hellgate:London - a FPS/Action RPG and every single game coming out on the Wii that will utilize the controller; games are re-inventing themselves to keep people occupied and feel like they are playing something new, not just a cookie cutter game that has a swapped environment,characters, and story with a few new guns added.
It will be stumbled on eventually.
