Couple of songs are giving me problems improving my scores with short zig-zags. I can hit something like : consistently through, but something like : I cannot keep a combo on whatsoever, I just can't get my fingers to go back and forth correctly. Anyone got any tips for hitting this part on songs?

For something like that I would hold down my index on the red and then play the like a little triplet, hammering on the blue and pulling off to the yellow then again to the red. It takes a little practice to get, but eventually it'll make sense.

i learned it by just getting the muscle memory. seriously just put your hand flat on a table and try and make that motion with your dominant three fingers, 1-2-3-2-1-2-3-2-...once you can do that, you can easily do those parts in songs, even solo C of freebird if you can get it goin fast enough

practice practice practice :P

well not really. I sort of had this same trouble as well, with that freebird solo that goes back and forth in sets of 3.... what i did was just occasionally move my fingers back and forth like that in everyday life.. just like twiddling thumbs or whatever, it's not really a big study session or anything, just nonchalantly go back and forth for a minute or two every so often, it will work.

try using your 1 2 and 3 fingers and sorta "rock" your hand back and forth, this really helped me learn how to hit those ziggies.

how i started fingering it was by moving my hand and going 112112112. It doesn't work for really quick ones, but it works fine for most

you shouldnt need to do this for a CoP 5*...i cant do these at all and i can 5* it without star power...just use sp in all the parts outside of the solos which you should be able to easily fc then fret like crazy through the solos

Bingo. For most things, you can work your fingers fast enough if you can just get the muscle memory down.

For something REALLY fast (like Free Bird Solo C), it might be better to hold down the low note (in Solo C's case, the R) and just trill the other two notes.

Different strokes for different folks though.

What song is good to practice this in GH3, I can't think of one? Not the Talk Dirty To Me ending, that's too easy.

Well I started hitting the slower ziggie at the end of Freebird solo C and I took it into practice kept doing it again and again, because it was really fun for me, and I then started to combo the faster one which is now lol :P

Talk Dirty to Me and Cities on Flame both have parts like this. I used to realllllly have trouble with this, just practice a lot, and to hit these parts i get in the zone, sort of haha, I have to really concentrate and it works.
