I got my first guitar(electric) yesterday and am enjoying it so far.
P.S. How do you tune a guitar!? It's really frustrating me. |

I play guitar
Tuning: Hit your 5th fret of 6th string, that should be the same sound as open 5th
Repeat this down the neck. |

that's just the thing, should the sound be EXACTLY the same? That's what I'm having trouble doing. |

I play percussion in my school band. I can't do set 100% yet. I am the best mallet (marimba, bells, xylophone, etc.) player in the 7th grade. _________________

I do.
To tune your guitar, as mentioned, just play the 5th fret of the string below, and if it matches with the open note of the string above, you've got it. One of them matches with the 4th fret of the string above, though.
Or you could just get a digital tuner. Those things are awesome, and cheap. Plus it'll put your guitar perfectly in tune, which is pretty hard by ear =P _________________

I play a real B.C. Rich Warlock(shooting for EDS-1275 or EVH Frankenstrat) and my band is about to take off.
to tune the 5th fret on a string should sound exactly the same as the open string above it _________________

Is the search function really that big a mystery to people? There are scads of real guitar threads in this forum (This one, for example, is over 20 pages long) , and no need to start a new one.
Regarding your quest to begin learning guitar, there are a lot of people here that do play, but if you want a resource to help you learn, you've got to go to a dedicated site. Try www.justinguitar.com. It's pretty much the best there is for beginning technique. _________________

1) You're using numbers in place of words.
2) You're spelling at the second grade level.
3) You're posting in CAPS.
4) This post is in the wrong place, and should have been in Software.
Conclusion: Custom songs are not your "cup of tea", and I'd suggest undertaking a much more simpler hobby. Perhaps tree watching. |
